Director Risk Management Charitable Fidelity Investments Raleigh

Job Description:
The primary focus of this role is leading and also conducting risk assessments to support/review Fidelity Charitable’s grant-making policies, and also to support Fidelity Charitable’s activities with regard to programs and technology. The Director of Risk Management will assess the control environments of these areas and processes to identify and mitigate potential weaknesses. The Director of Risk Management is expected to be intellectually curious about the subject area, proactively and continually seek knowledge about risk management, and support Fidelity Charitable’s business functions and efforts to control and enhance donor activities. This role, based in Cary, North Carolina will report to the Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer of Fidelity Charitable.
The Director of Risk Management is responsible for ensuring that appropriate controls to mitigate risk are in place across the organization, through analytical assessments - as well as the development of policies, training, and oversight programs. The Director of Risk Management must embrace an agile work environment, where he/she will often be asked to be a content provider within a large project or activity led by another associate.

Primary Responsibilities
Assess, develop, implement, and maintain operational processes, policies, procedures, reports, and controls inventory within and across organization’s business functions
Analyze and design appropriate processes for identifying, escalating, and resolving risk and compliance issues, develop appropriate metrics for defining, measuring, and tracking risk and quality-related issues to identify trends and address error prevention, and monitor remediation of incidents
Initiate, lead, and perform risk assessments, evaluate business risk tolerance, and serve as key stakeholder for operational controls on internal and external projects, ensuring appropriate quality controls and testing in the new program/product development cycle for new programs, enhancements, and process changes
Play point on internal and external audits, including pre-tests/self-audits in advance of formal audits, recommend course of action for audit findings, ensure implementation of action plan, and monitor until closure
Assess and support the development of training materials with learning and development leadership, and assist in the delivery to associates
Provide real-time risk advice to associates
Manage Information Security, Records and Vendor Management Programs
Manages a small team (two associates)
Desired Skills and Experience
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred
6-10 years’ experience in a controls/operations/risk, or compliance environment
Skills and Knowledge
Passionate about the non-profit sector and supporting Fidelity Charitable’s mission
Strong process orientation and understanding of operations and technology
Application of risk management, compliance and quality control
Demonstrated ability to act as an individual contributor, as well as leader of small risk team
Proven project management skills
Excellent verbal/written communication skills to influence, build consensus and integrate complex information
Excellent business acumen, analytical aptitude, and critical thinking skills
Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with associates to design and assist in the execution of appropriate controls design and monitoring
Ability to influence leaders in the effective review and management of operational controls
Self-motivated with a high degree of ownership and accountability for results
Demonstrated ability to work calmly under pressure with tight deadlines
Periodic travel to Westlake, TX and Boston, MA
