Job Description:
FSC is seeking a Director of Business Operations to lead and drive the product manufacturing lifecycle of FSC products. This individual will work closely with FSC product management to understand product requirements, and with the FSC engineering team and other FLEX design centers to bring to market new successful, IoT technology products. A key aspect of this position will be communications and interfacing with FLEX customers, engineers from FLEX design teams, and third-party engineering teams to deliver an optimized manufacturing and logistics solution. Some travel will be required to conceptualize and iterate the NPI process, transition products to FLEX factory sites, and deliver finished products to FSC customers.
The Director of Business Operations will be focused on both process development and business and technical solutions, developing clear communication channels and direction among cross-functional teams. The selected candidate will be the primary channel for daily interaction with regard to production deliverables involving the FSC and other FLEX design teams, factory sites, and customers. This individual will use their experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement including: adherence to program schedules, compliance with FLEX’s Product Life Cycle (FLEX PLC) methods and milestones, manufacturing to specifications, rapid resolution of technical challenges, identifying and closing gaps in product costs, progression through the NPI/manufacturing/testing processes, successful transition from design to a FLEX production site, and resolving any tax/customs/logistics issues. The Director of Business Operations will be accountable for driving manufacturing and delivering solutions to achieve pre-determined cost, quality, and schedule targets, working closely with other subject matter experts across the FLEX organization.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / DUTIES:

• Responsible for leading cross-functional teams to support the FSC product development lifecycle, driving manufacturing planning and seeking appropriate commitment, driving crisp execution, establishing quality assurance plans, and adhering to budgets and schedules.

• Responsible for product cost analysis and reporting, FLEX quotations to FSC, and project financial reporting.

• Serve as the key point of coordination’ between FSC, other FLEX design teams, manufacturing sites, finance, tooling engineers, logistics teams, other FLEX subject matter experts and support functions, and customers with regard to NPI, tooling and production management, logistics, business transaction setup, and manufacturing contract terms and conditions.

• Organize, facilitate, and lead regular manufacturing phase project meetings for each product and communicate overall project status, issues, and costs to the FSC leadership team.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: (include experience required with specific software applications, equipment, or specific certifications and education requirements such as MSME, MSEE, APICS, etc)
REQUIRED Basic Qualifications (must have skills):
• Strong expertise in the areas of demand planning, forecasting, supply chain, preferably in the electronics manufacturing business or product business.
• 5+ years of experience in successfully managing operations or products / programs from a completed design to final product delivery in which new products have been delivered on short (three to nine month) product timelines.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing techniques, strong lean manufacturing background, and proven success transitioning a design into NPI and mass production.
• Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and leading-edge technology; understanding of international pricing dynamics, exchange rates, and international duties/taxes.
• Team based manufacturing leadership experience and “shop floor empowerment” capability.
• Detail oriented, able to sort through incomplete data and make educated decisions to support project scope and timeline. Successful in building internal and external relationships.
• Has a strong reputation for on-time and on-budget product deliveries ideally in the electronics product markets.
• Excellent organizational and management skills successfully leading a multi-functional team across different time zones and locations to development of efficient and repeatable systems that support design to NPI transitions, manufacturing to meet specifications and quality, production level testing, and forward/reverse logistics.
• Ability to manage tradeoff priorities and costs while staying on schedule.
• Possesses strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of both NPI and mass production approaches.
• Process and program management skills with the ability to define, build, and adhere to successful lifecycle development processes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Knowledge of worldwide compliance standards and certifications.
• Knowledge of DFM-related issues.
• Knowledge of financials and profit and loss.
• Experience in understanding legal contractual terms.
• Able to travel overseas.

PREFERRED Qualifications (nice to have skills):
• Cross-functional expertise across hardware, software, and manufacturing, supporting various types of products.
• Experience working with and integrating 3rd party technologies and production capabilities.

Education or Training:
Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical/electronic, industrial engineering (BSc or BEng), or an MSc in a science discipline or MBA.
