Job Description:
The pharmacist coordinates patient centered delivery of pharmacological services with the guidance and collaboration of the Medical Director, staff physician and members of the Nursing Department.The Director of Pharmacy is accountable for all pharmacological activities including purchasing, packaging, dispensing and compounding of medications as well as development and maintenance of policies and procedures.
Qualifications
1. Currently licensed to practice Pharmacy in the State of Washington by examination or endorsement.
Possesses comprehensive knowledge of drugs, including their composition, chemical and physical properties,
interactions and uses.
Supervisory experience in a pharmacy setting.
Possesses professional level interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, nurses and
vendor representatives.
Must have the analytical skills required to prepare reports, assist in the budgeting process, evaluate new products
and develop policies and procedures.
Must have professional knowledge of cost-effective, fiscally responsible drug procurement and utilization,
preparation and inventory control.
Possesses a dedicated interest in the field of addiction treatment.
Prepares and dispenses drugs and chemicals. Fills and labels all drug containers appropriately.
Orders and purchases pharmaceuticals as needed to maintain inventory levels in order to meet patient care needs
in a cost effective manner.
Maintains controls over inventory, distribution and handling. Periodically reviews inventory to ensure that all
medications are stored according to established security and environmental conditions.
Reviews patient medication orders for proper indication, correct dose and drug interactions; and insures correct
transcription onto nursing medication administration records (MAR).
Maintains departmental records, transactions, statistics, and all related records as required by state and federal
regulations and hospital policies.
Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with physicians and nursing service personnel
to provide pharmaceutical services.
Provides consultative services to the physicians on prescribed medications.
Provide patient and staff education on pharmaceuticals used at the hospital.
