The Director of Web Technology is responsible for the day-to-day management of internal and external development teams, core systems architecture and infrastructure of various web properties, and is the primary liaison for technology vendors. This position provides technology governance and implementation guidelines to support a multitude of websites and services under the jurisdiction.
The Essential Functions
Responsible for the structure, implementation, build, integration and quality assurance of all web and mobile technologies.
Evaluates emerging technologies and software development platforms; performs competitive analysis; determines viability for assimilation and deployment.
Long-term technology solution evaluation, requirements gathering, and management of implementation.
Assesses all aspects of online risk management.
Day-to-day management of full technology team and online development projects.
Proactively documents, publishes, establishes and updates technology specifications, code standards, departmental processes and procedures; responsible for team education and promoting adoption.
Management and documentation of change requests and issue tracking.
Oversee quality assurance to ensure programming meets published requirements.
Works closely with project management office and architects to construct the technology infrastructure to support global online solutions across multiple websites.
Accurately estimates technology development team tasks and manages multiple deliverables simultaneously.
Manages third-party vendors and outside contractors; ensuring objectives are communicated and deliverables are met.
Works with other departments to ensure web technology is integrated with the corporate technology infrastructure as well as serve as point-of-contact for all online technology issues.
Ensure Oakley’s ecommerce is always available, stable, well-maintained, and secure.
Provide guidance and oversight to sys admin team.
THE QUALIFIERS
15+ years of working experience in web technology development.
10+ years working with eCommerce websites
5+ years of technology team management.
Knowledgeable in both waterfall and agile development methodologies.
Experience with Enterprise Ecommerce Platforms such as Hybris, ATG or IBM WCS (ideally Hybris).
Expertise with Java, HTML5, JavaScript, JSON, CSS, XML, AJAX.
Experience with Apache, VMware Server, RedHat Linux, Web services and DNS servers.
Experience with Apple, Mac OSX, iOS, TextMate, Transmit, command line
Experience implementing third-party integrations for CoreMetrics SOLR, Baynote, Celum, Cybersource and SVS
Experience with cloud computing and implementing Akamai CDN.
Experience building and implementing content management systems across enterprise organizations.
Experience integrating web technologies with SAP ERP and POS systems.
Experience developing for enterprise mobile platforms including HTLM5/CSS based and native iOS applications.
Solid knowledge of technical requirements definition and design process.
Well-versed in web security, fraud prevention and Service Oriented Architecture.
Strong proponent of web standards and accessibility.
Knowledge of management principles and practices; budgeting, cost estimating, fiscal management principles and procedures.
Should be a motivated self-starter, process-oriented with high attention to detail.
Ability to work in fast-paced environment and flexibility to accommodate demanding projects schedules.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
