Director Strategic Analysis Project Mgmt Novartis New York City

Job Description:
We are looking for an analytical leader with strong project management skills, to drive the portfolio review & prioritization of the Novartis Oncology BU ( $15bn business)

Position Purpose
Analyzing portfolio of our oncology marketed and pipeline products.
Analyzing competitor’s portfolio
Leading and managing strategic projects such as product divestments, establishment of complex commercial partnerships.
Major Accountabilities:
- Lead for portfolio optimization projects and portfolio analysis in close cooperation with Early Commercial Strategy, Oncology Global Development (OGD), Global Finance, Marketing and Market Access
- Organize the twice yearly portfolio review at the steering committee in liaison with Global Head Marketing, Strategy and BD&L, OGD and Finance
- Conduct regular comparisons with competitors portfolio
- Understand and follow external portfolio valuation done by investors and analysts
- Lead and Manage with autonomy specific projects such as asset transfer in case of divestment or licensing out

Key Performance Indicators:
- Creation of an efficient system for portfolio evaluation and optimization
- Successful transfer of assets as per the licensing out/divestment agreements while protecting Novartis interest and image
- Creation of models for complex commercial partnerships
- Effective interface with key internal and external stakeholders
- Orderly and efficient input to various senior management strategic review documents and portfolio reviews at DSC
- Orderly and timely delivery of Project Tracker and Priority Report

Competency Profile:
- Ability to lead strategic projects such as assets transfer
- Strategic thinker
- Understanding and experience in portfolio management
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written, particularly ability to deliver high quality and impact memos and presentations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong transversal project management skills
- Strong people skills, particularly the ability to work with senior management and people from all parts of the company and world
Specific Professional Competencies:
- Minimum 7 years of industry experience, minimum 3 years of experience in portfolio management and project management
- Experience in leading and closing transversal projects
- Scientific/medical training/experience
- Business or Finance training/experience
- Understanding of Pharma, biotech, molecular diagnostics
Ideal Background:
- Ph.D. in biomedical sciences /MD/MS, MBA, with experience in pharma or biotech and health care investors/financial health care analyst
