Director Global Brand Strategy American Express New York City

Job Description:
The Director of Global Brand Strategy joins a team responsible for the development and execution of a global brand strategy that reinforces American Express’ leadership position in the marketplace. This position reports to the VP of Brand Strategy and will work with business leaders worldwide to align the strategic positioning of priority customer segments, product line strategies and customer experiences to the American Express brand. He/She will also serve as the “Brand Champion” in managing the rollout of all global brand engagement programs to all employees, including the delivery of brand training sessions and brand discussions across the business to drive the brand strategy forward.

The Director will partner closely with the proprietary marketplace insights group to monitor the state of the brand, identify growth opportunities and provide thought leadership on trends impacting our brand and business. The position will have 1 direct report.

•Be part of a core team to set a global brand strategy that drives demand and engenders loyalty internally and externally

•Develop brand positioning, brand architecture, and customer segmentation strategies

•Oversee research and leverage data from internal and external sources to ensure we are making strategic brand decisions based on customer/competitive insights

•Collaborate with leaders across the business to ensure that the brand strategy aligns behaviors and operations to deliver the desired customer experience

•Create roadmap, content, and tools to drive engagement around the global brand strategy, including oversight our global brand portal.

•Conduct brand training and serve as “Brand Champion” in various forums

•Define, track and measure progress against brand and business objectives

Qualifications

•Minimum 10 years of work experience, with 5-7 in brand management or strategic marketing roles
•Strong analytical skills and comfort translating research and trends into actionable insights
•Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
•Passion for brands and marketing
•Proactive, assertive leader comfortable working in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment
•Team-oriented, with experience leading and developing staff
•Self-starter, strong attention to detail, pride in execution
•Relevant advanced degree strongly preferred
