Job Description:
The Senior Director, Chief Architect is responsible for leading the definition of the “Digital Utility” vision as well as the overall information technology architecture planning; including infrastructure strategy, architectural direction, technologystandards and guidelines to achieve the business outcomes desired as part of that vision. This individual will work with the broader IT organization and business units, including the CIO and business leaders, to determine ways that PG&E can leverage technologyto enhance business objectives and improve the consumer experience. This will include infrastructure and network changes, architecture initiatives and rationalization of applications.
The overarching purpose of this role will be to continue to build asustainable blueprint for technology improvement, focusing on operational excellence, process improvement and governance, while helping the company achieve its business objectives. PG&E has been investing in technology to deliver on the “Digital Utility” vision.As such, the successful candidate in the role will be proficient in leading a team in each of the architectural disciplines, but also proficient across the entire technology spectrum from applications, integration, data, and infrastructure. Two key areas ofproficiency include Information/Data architecture as well as Network Architecture as these are integral to realizing the vision of the “Digital Utility.” This new executive will be tasked with assessing the current architecture organizational structure, assessingthe talent need and reestablishing the function for the enterprise.
The new technology leader will be expected to develop innovative but cost-effective approaches in the use of technology to solve business problems, with a vision of keeping PG&E onthe leading edge of technology. This individual will manage a geographically distributed team and have responsibility for guiding, as well as influencing, senior management in coordination with the broader information technology group. The new executive will belocated at PG&E’s headquarters in San Francisco.
Minimum Qualifications

B.A./B.S. degree in computer science,information systems, engineering or equivalent work experience
12 years of IT management or IT Architecture experience including at least 7 years' experience managing an enterprise architecture practice
Excellent planning, organizational andproject management skills; detail and process-oriented; able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent analytical and technical skills
Ability to foster a work environment in which individuals collaborate in pursuit ofa common mission and mutual goals
Strong leadership, planning and customer relationship skills
Ability to influence and work with and across all levels within the business to develop the best solutions

Proficient understanding of relevant technologies required to perform support function
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage to budgets and estimate the financial impact of IT decisions
Demonstrated ability to explain necessary trade-offs and balances between immediate and tactical needs or issues with PG&E leaders
Deep understanding of the processes, information and systems leveraged within designated functionalareas
Ability to translate complex business requirements into IT solutions
Demonstrated experience managing functions to successfully deliver IT initiatives and services
Knowledge of business process improvement disciplines(i.e., Six Sigma)
Proficient in conceptualizing creative solutions, as well as documenting them and presenting/selling them to senior management
Previous oversight responsibility and experience implementing significant PG&E programs,policies and initiatives that supported overall strategy, and operating plan for the company and individual lines of business.
Involvement as key contributor directing a single complex company-wide function, or multiple smaller functions, that havesignificant impact on financial or operating plans of the company

Responsibilities
• The key area of responsibility will be providing leadership on both strategic and tactical issuesso that economies of scale, shared thought processes, architectural approach and intellectual capital are focused on across the organization.
• Work with key technology and business leaders to establish and ensure consistent, disciplined use oftechnologies, including goals, principles, policies, standards and priorities across the organization.
• The services provided by this organization support PG&E’s business initiatives, as well as internal and external customers.
• Buildand drive the development of the architecture function that supports the strategic direction of the business and ensures alignment and compliance across all technology areas.
• Recruit, build and grow talent in the enterprise architecture discipline, inaddition to leading highly technical teams that are capable of achieving desired business outcomes.
• Build an information management and data strategy that provides innovate products and actionable information through the utilization andcombination of external and internal information.
• Develop technology strategies and architectures in order to achieve PG&E’s vision of digitizing all business capabilities across the utility value chain, allowing PG&E to lead the industry bybecoming a fully digital utility.
• Champion the value of enterprise architecture and communicate its value across the organization. Foster better linkage between application development and the infrastructure organization.
• Improve total costof ownership via the implementation of an improved architecture strategy that enables identification of issues very early in the development process.
• Work closely with the business units to develop plans for the rationalization of systems to reduce costand improve effectiveness.
• Ensure communication of architecture issues, training, events, standards, policies and overall architecture strategy.
