Job Description:
The Development Director– Asia will be responsible for developing franchise partnerships in Asia and expanding Chili’s franchise restaurant base outside of the U.S. This position will lead negotiations for franchise and development agreements, working closely with Brinker legal, finance and Global operations teams. To accomplish development goals, this position will lead pipeline management; helping to source, identify and provide initial vetting of new partners. The Director will develop effective partnerships within the Brinker organization to ensure successful execution of development plans and launching of the Chili’s brand in new markets. The Development Director for Asia will report to the VP of Development GBD.
Key Performance Elements/Essential Functions
• Drive and manage the execution of the Global development plan
• Locate or propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discover and explore opportunities
• Investigate business activity, industry trends and competition
• Develop relationships with franchise capital partners, cultivate key partner decision makers, and structure development agreements
• Execute new country market entry plans
• Proactively identify opportunities and initiatives to drive new market entries
• Ensure the continuity and consistency of the Global development process
• Negotiate and structure development arrangements demonstrating flexibility to meet Brinker and partner needs and create a strong overall business model
• Present financial analyses and business opportunities in clear and understandable terms to the Development Lead and Global Leadership Team
• Due diligence and analysis of all pro-formas and business plans submitted as part of packages for new market entry opportunities. Advise franchise department and upper management on all international economic and monetary trends for all markets with Chili’s restaurants
• Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential and financial; evaluate options; resolve internal priorities
• Apply financial analysis to proactively identify opportunities and initiatives to strengthen, improve and drive new market entries and the overall business model
• Review and monitor franchise disclosure agreement, fee adjustments and/or modifications to license agreements and make recommendations to Global Leadership Team

Work Experience
• 5+ years of international franchising and development experience
• Restaurant or Restaurant franchising business experience is a plus
Education/Language
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA a plus
• Knowledge and understanding of mainland China market
• Fluent in Mandarin
