Run the Database Administration Team for the world's largest Oracle-based Data Warehouse, with tens of petabytes of data, used by over 10,000 internal Amazon users every month. In addition, you will run a team of DBAs managing over 1000 critical databases used by Amazon retail.
You must be both a great manager of managers, able to run this large globally distributed team (primarily Seattle and Hyderabad), and a great DBA, deeply knowledgeable about Oracle databases, but also ready to help us transition to new technologies that can help us deal with our ever increasing scale.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
12+ years of industry experience
8+ years of experience leading DBAs
Relevant hands-on technical management experience of DBA support teams and skills - troubleshoot, debug, evaluate, and resolve software defects.
Knowledge of Oracle DBs, Data guard, DB backups and recovery, SQL, PL/SQL, , Java, and Linux
Clear and concise both verbally and in writing.
Data Warehouse experience
Demonstrates resilience managing a wide variety of issues.
Experience working with management or staff in remote sites / internationally.
Experience with multiple database platforms is a plus
