The In-building Center (IBC) is a global unit within Business Unit Global Services with the mission to provide best-practice based competence to accelerate the in-building small cells services business. The team will support the Regions by bringing true E2E expertise for in-building solutions, design, deployment and project management through the entire business life cycle from early business development to pre-sales and delivery. The measurement of success will be based on our ability to enable our Regions to grow the In-building small cells business profitably.
We are looking for a senior professional accountable for architecting comprehensive, integrated, In-building solutions based on customer requirements and business-case.
Within the solution development cycle, the Solution Architect will take ownership for development of network design rules, in-house versus third-party product and services decisions, early-phase project estimates contributing to the business case and high-level design. During the sales phase, the Solution Architect participates as a member of the Core 3 team in a Customer Solution Responsible (CSR) role. The Solution Architect will provide guidance and architectural oversight during the detailed design, build, test and integration phase.
This position is a part of Business Unit Global Services, In-Building Center in North America reporting to the Director and Head of IBC North America.
Responsibilities
Create high-level comprehensive customer-centric innovative solution designs that address the technical, commercial and business needs of Ericsson’s customers.
Establish technical requirements baseline, specify solution architecture and decide on migration strategy and network evolution. Recognize, challenge and resolve unrealistic requirements (e.g. common-case versus worst-case scenario)
Anticipate, identify, analyze, prioritize and control the risks involved in a solution from design to delivery in conjunction with appropriate teams
Expert user and promoter of Ericsson and 3PP advanced indoor design tools and continuously work to innovate and improve process, methods and tools to secure reduced lead times and increased competitiveness
Seamlessly work with and fully leveraging the global indoor design and solution expertise available in our global competence domains and global delivery centers and act as a front line orchestrator and facilitator between the global community and the local teams.
Maximize re-use of global assets such as reference and project solutions tailoring them to the specific customer environment, maturity and context
Act as a visionary and technology strategist for the indoor solution area, establish governing principles for architectures, solutions and designs
Liaise with Business Unit Product Management teams across business lines and product areas and the wider Ericsson indoor support community (GCD RAN, GSC’s etc) to explain the regional market trends and entice development of a product response and TSS support to these market trends and customer needs
Continuously survey market landscape for solution insights, direction, methods and competitive information in order to provide the best solutions to Ericsson’s customers and keep own knowledge, skills and competence up-to-date
Secure the implementation of the functionality of the total solution by securing handover of architecture and high level design to the project team and staying accountable for the end-to-end solution during the lifecycle of the solution
Establish and maintain relationships with Customer units, RNAM In-building engagement practice, operations, customers, vendors, partners and business owner organizations to secure / win opportunities and successfully deploy In-building solutions, allowing customers to obtain a competitive advantage through use of Ericsson as main contractor and IBS partner.
Ensures that indoor design tools, methods and process updates are applied and made available, highlighting differentiators, drive for innovation and automation.
Distinguish and establish business best practices for the related services portfolios within the IBS domain that can be reused and tailored to meet specific customer or market needs.
Position Qualifications
MSc or BSc degree or equivalent industry expertise acquired from working experience
10+ years technical industry experience from RAN In-building solutions
International working experience at regional level or in a multi-country environment is highly desirable
The preferred candidate has experience from working within both vendor, network operator/owner and IBS services organizations
Must have good knowledge in Ericsson and 3PP radio product portfolio including outdoor RAN, indoor DAS and small cells.
Needs to be a team player with the ability to effectively work in cross-functional teams with multiple stakeholders
While the role is focused at supporting the North American market, it is also part of a global wider team and you’re expected to actively participate and contribute to the global in-building community and business owners knowledge harvesting. Being in the front line it is vital to systematically provide Customer centric feedback to the portfolio management teams on how to improve offerings, process, and methods and tools to support increased competitiveness.
