Job Description:
The Director of Engineering will be part of the Honeywell Industrial Safety Products – High Risk Safety Management group, leading (dotted line) a global engineering team that develops differentiated personal protection products in support of HIS short, medium and long term- business goals.
The Director of Engineering works closely with the Global High Risk Safety Segment Marketing Leader, and with the regional High Risk Safety Marketing, R&D, ISC and sales organizations to create the five-year Strategic Plan and ensure delivery of new products and product changes according to the business Annual Operating Plan.
The position can be based in one of the following locations: US (Houston, TX; Minneapolis, MN), Czech Republic (Brno); India (Bangalore, Hyderabad), or China (Shanghai) and will report to the Chief Technology Officer, Honeywell Industrial Safety (HIS).
Global Segment Strategy
Develops technology STRAP for the segment technology; owns the product roadmaps to serve the needs of all regions through maximum use of platforms and design reuse.
Competitive Intelligence
Identifies competing technologies and products and conducts competitive teardown to establish superior understanding of competition. Participates in international tradeshows and conferences to have the pulse on global innovation.
Innovation
Establishes an internal and external Innovation Ecosystem- Internal innovation cells – skills, creative environment, flexibility, rewards.
Open Innovation- Identifies small companies with relevant technologies and establishes partnerships and co-development projects to enable access to differentiated technologies in a fast to market manner. Advanced Development Projects for the segment. Specific focus expected on materials development, coatings, formulation for rubbers, replacement of PU in a range of products.
Honeywell User Experience (HUE)
Works with HUE COE to drive a Global Design Language for Honeywell High Risk Safety Products. Responsible for delivering superior and differentiated user experiences.
Execution
Oversees execution of the global platforms and ensures that all barriers are adequately addressed.
Pac
Together with the Segment Marketing leader, owns the Global Segment PAC.
Hgr
Identified the needs of HGRs and facilitates, together with the HIS PDM, the execution of projects targeted at HGR growth.
Organizational Development
Build a global R&D organization with the skills and resources required to support the product lines of HSP business and enable projected growth.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an engineering discipline.
A minimum of 10 years of experience in product design.
Additional Qualifications
Management experience preferably in an international, multi-site and multicultural business environment.
Product development expertise, from idea generation through to product release.
Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies for product certification.
Experience and understanding of International Standards relevant to Personal Protection/Safety Equipment a plus.
Broad experience in life safety technologies a plus.
