Director Customer Strategy Intelligence Macy's New York City

Job Description:
Macy's, a leader in retail customer analytics, seeks a Director of Customer Strategy & Intelligence to lead Advanced Analytics initiatives. The Director will be instrumental in building a world class customer center of excellence group and be a leading force in implementing cutting–edge business intelligence that will enable and empower Macy’s with predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining, and advanced statistical capabilities. The Director will discover and evangelize deep behavioral insights, develop scalable predictive reasoning methodologies, and provide thought leadership around customer focused analytics. He/she will use excellent business acumen to drive business opportunities, facilitate strong partnerships between team and stakeholders to drive sales and profit goals.

Essential Functions
• The incumbent will be using the latest technology and quantitative methods to successfully develop mathematical or statistical models, algorithms, and tools to deliver impactful data-driven insights and decision support; advocate and drive a continuous improvement environment through effective optimization, applied learnings, integrated experimentation, and a healthy dose of curiosity

• Proven and demonstrated excellence in delivering and implementing advanced analytical projects

• Guide customer strategies and tactics through the sophisticated analysis of consumer behaviors, loyalty programs, marketing insights, and Omni channel activity that meet revenue based goals/targets.

• Serve as a passionate analytics advocate and business partner to help advance solutions that drive traffic, spend, loyalty, conversion, and retention

• Research, identify and champion new mathematical and statistical modeling techniques and novel ways of using technology for solving customer/merchant problems and to create differentiation from competitors and to support sustainable market growth and sales

• Foster a focused and pragmatic approach to using advanced analytics and new technologies to drive productivity, sales and a superior customer experience

• Collaborate with other data science leaders across organization to share and bring best practices and benefits to Macy’s

• Support the development of appropriate roadmaps, strategies which advocate a progressive vision for advanced analytics solutions, data and processes. Guide, grow, coach, and support CSI team. Establish clear objectives to achieve success across each team member. .

• Collaborate with business owners and teammates to solve business problems, which may include standard tool or custom algorithm development

• Foster strong peer and Senior/Executive-level communication

• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality



Qualifications



Education/Experience



• Graduate degree/Doctorate in Applied Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research or other Quantitative field required

• Minimum 4 years of experience in an advanced analytical role with a focus on leveraging data, advanced analytic methodologies, and appropriate statistical tools to deliver and implement models and actionable insights and drive business results

• Customer modeling and analytic experience within an Omni channel environment preferred

• Solid knowledge of advanced analytic, customer propensity modeling, machine learning and testing methodologies in a customer focused environment as well as common analytic tools like SAS, R, Python and SQL, interactive computing language like MATLAB.

• Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and Access, including Visual Basic.

• Extensive knowledge of mathematical and statistical modeling techniques, machine learning, especially their applications to business problems like Customer propensity and churn, prediction, simulation, optimization.

• Practical experience with demonstrated excellence in applying advanced analytics to large data sets required; experience with ‘Big Data’ environment preferred

• Excellent project management to assume ownership for analysis projects from data modeling to final delivery.

• Knowledge of Retail and merchandise planning concepts a plus.
