Job Description
Bose Corporation is seeking an accomplished and innovative senior strategic supply chain professional responsible for leading the procurement operations of $0.5b in expenditures. This position is a direct business partner to the leadership teams of all the product development business units and works collaboratively at aligning sourcing strategies with product roadmaps. You along with your team, are instrumental in developing the architecture of each Bose product experience through establishing deep technology partnerships with Bose's strategic technology suppliers in order to increase design collaboration and deliver first-to-market technology. Additionally, you are responsible for building and maintaining the global supply chain infrastructure required to support these technologies and materials. It will be your responsibility to shape the worldwide supply base to deliver the best total cost of ownership for each of the Bose manufacturing sites along with directed materials to contracted partners. As a leader and owner of a large part of the company’s assets, you will direct initiatives to drive cost savings, improve delivery flexibility, assist in eliminating gaps in delivered quality performance, and mitigate business continuity risks.
Responsibilities:
Conduct technology and operational assessments of emerging and established suppliers in each of your commodity areas.
Build and maintain high performance teams with your global Commodity Managers to oversee the numerous technologies in your purview.
Ensure the Global Supply Management teams are using the latest state-of-the-art tools to support their job.
Manage organizational change in a rapidly growing global value chain with increasing responsibilities.
Oversee the negotiations of global contracts in all categories of spend in conjunction with your Commodity Managers.
Lead corporate cost management initiatives, (VAULT), to achieve corporate profitability goals.
Regularly meet and/or present to members of the executive team on performance or strategic initiatives.
Monitor supply chain delivery/capacity risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure no interruption in material supply.
Be a change agent for the Corporation to drive continuous improvement activity resulting in lower
costs, improved quality, and on-time delivery.
Oversee the process for cross-functional commodity teams to establish comprehensive short and long term strategic direction for the acquisition of materials and services.
Maintain a high level of engagement with industry leaders in the technology categories of responsibility. Build strong business relationships with other industry executives and grow a high value network.
Plan, organize and implement purchasing actions, which will ensure material is available to support company objectives.
Maintain a strong alliance with Advance Technology groups within the company. Aid in the supplier development to incorporate new technologies within our products.
Develop and manage department budget and develop long range planning to strategically meet the needs of the corporation.
Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and developments affecting all categories of spend. Conduct all business transactions consistent with Bose GSM policies, including TS 16949 requirements as necessary.
Serve as Company and industry representative in the marketplace, working with trade associations, professional societies, and universities to develop information and contacts that will aid the purchasing function.
Recommend, implement, and enforce corporate and department policies and procedures.
Drive the process to develop and retain staff employees including training, development, appraisal, wage and salary administration, and hiring and terminating, ensuring total compatibility with overall department goals and performance.
Develop forward costing and benchmarking for current and new products.
Conduct all business transactions consistent with Bose GSM ethical standards.
Desired Skills and Experience
10 years of experience in purchasing and/or operations in a large, multi-plant, multi-business until environment.
Minimum of 8 years direct management experience as a VP/Director level supply chain professional with in-depth knowledge of global procurement practices.
Proven leadership skills in a fast paced high-tech environment.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
Successful people management experience (this role manages globally positioned commodity managers)
Demonstrated skills in motivationally moving teams, as well as building productive internal and external working relationships.
Demonstrated experience in working with global cultures manufacturing goods for the consumer markets.
Up to 30% international travel to support global supplier relationship management.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
MBA strongly preferred.
CPM or CPIM, Lean/Six Sigma Certification preferred.
