Job Description
DePuy Synthes Inc., a member of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is recruiting for a Senior Director, Commercial Operations. The position will be located at any DePuy Synthes North America site (Warsaw, IN, Raynham, MA or West Chester, PA) with considerations for other locations or home based office being considered for exceptional applicants.
This position is a partner with and responsible for providing expert council to the Depuy Synthes Franchise Account Management teams in the realm of DPS Cost to Serve in support of development of next generation of performance based contracts. The incumbent will directly interface with customers to understand their strategic Cost to Serve needs. This position is responsible for translating the customer needs into applicable solutions through leading value identification processes, and coordinating solution development activities with Account Leads and Supply Chain and Logistics professionals as neccessary.

The Senior Director, Commercial Operations is responsible for planning, coordinating and executing the necessary actions to extract value (i.e. portfolio changes, instrumentation optimization, optimization of field assets, distributor contracts, sales representative coverage, etc.). This will include leading commercial operations integration between Global CLS and Global Orthopedics Supply chain activities related to Customer Experience, Transportation, Distribution, and E2E connectivity. In addition, the successful candidate will lead a small team specializing in Orthopaedic Service Line customer engagements. The successful candidate will also work closely with our independent distributor network and direct sales force to optimize the last mile of delivery in that model.

This position will also develop in partnership with CLS and then own the Cost to Serve Analytics (Acorn) once validated. This will include internal and external value identification, project development and management, and execution of comprehensive projects to dramatically improve DPS NA Cost to serve. The incumbent will develop and deploy Supply Chain performance metrics across the end to end contract to cash continuum and will establish improvement targets, track and trend performance and take appropriate action to meet business goals and objectives as they pertain to Cost to Serve (Portfolio, Selling Model, Inventory and Logistics Model, and Value Added Services).

The role requires proficiency in project management at a director level, including obtaining agreement on project definitions and priorities, and ensuring that resources, capabilities and processes are in place. They will ensure that programs stay on plan by resolving resource conflicts and removing obstacles, which may involve negotiations at a senior level, ensure that proper risk management analysis and plans are in place for all projects and technology implementation, as well as ensure metrics for performance are met and plans are in place to provide continuous improvement.

The incumbent will ensure collaboration of groups across other functional areas, establishing effective working relationships with global partners, and also ensure application of efficient work practices for core group processes and ensure continued improvement and update of these practices with lessons learned. The individual will work under limited direction, and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and the Company’s policies, procedures and guidelines, this position is responsible for the following: Directly responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of global projects ensuring consistency with business strategy, commitments and goals. This includes defining, identifying and securing appropriate internal and external resources and coordinating the efforts of team member’s and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan.

The successful candidate will work in partnership with Franchise Account Management and interfacing directly with customers, distributors, field based account management teams, and direct/indirect sales force to identify customer supply chain improvement needs and to develop and deploy solutions. They will lead Cross Functional Projects that Include Supply Chain, Transportation, Distribution, and Contracting Associate teams to identify and deploy improvements in the end to end supply chain using 6-sigma / LEAN tools to drive customer service improvements and efficiencies in support of next generation performance based contracts.

The Senior Director, Commercial Operations will know and follow all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance at all times. They will diligently participate in our compliance program-related activities as denoted by the supervisor or Chief Compliance Officer.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required (Logistics, Engineering or Business or related field preferred), with an MBA being preferred. A Six-sigma/LEAN certification is preferred. A minimum of 15 years of Supply Chain /Logistics experience is required. This position requires strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to work cross-functionally in a diverse work force. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels in the organization and with external customers are required. Demonstrated ability to execute inventory planning, forecasting, and management systems (ERP) to achieve improved service levels and optimized inventory is required. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead improvement projects utilizing 6-sigma / LEAN tools is highly desired. Strong management skills with a proven track record of successful execution of major programs are required. Excellent negotiation skills; demonstrated experience in the negotiation of customer and / or vendor agreements are required. Ability to work independently and complete all business projects according to agreed upon timelines. Strong analytical skills and experience with Process Excellence tools are highly desirable. Working knowledge of required systems; i.e., SAP, Excel; Power Point and Word, Database experience a plus. Up to 50% travel may be required. The majority of travel will be Northeast US.
