Job Description
One of two managers of the ERM independent actuarial challenge function. The scope of the function includes all of AIG's vast reserves, with many products, many lines of business, in many countries around the world. The group's responsibilities also include review and challenge of the work of AIG's portfolio actuaries, including pricing models and profitability studies. The actuarial challenge group also manages the development and reporting of reserve ranges by line of business and in the aggregate.
The candidate will focus on expansion of the actuarial challenge function in the area of pricing and profitability studies. The candidate will manage staff in preparing In-Depth reviews of pricing models for selected business segments, with a goal of recommending methodology improvements both conventional and cutting-edge methodologies will be examined and tested.
The candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed written reports.
The candidate will participate in important meetings with members of management.
- FCAS
- 15+ years experience including significant pricing experience - excess pricing and/or predictive modeling. Reserving experience is a plus. Individual must possess deep actuarial insight, especially in difficult long tail and/or excess business.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - position will require the individual to exhibit poise, tact and judgment in challenging circumstances.
- Excellent technical and subject matter expertise.
- Strong Excel is essential; other programming and statistical modeling is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with little direction, find solutions to difficult problems.
