Under the direction of the VP and Deputy General Counsel, the Legal Director for IoT will oversee a team of lawyers providing legal support to SVP-level leadership of the IoT business unit. Collaborating with the IoT leadership team, you will be working with customers, partners, suppliers and other groups within Cisco to grow the business. In addition, you will lead the legal staffing and resources to support the business globally, in a business-oriented, pragmatic fashion, digitizing processes wherever possible, while enabling your legal staff to handle bespoke matters with agility and creativity. Bold by nature, you will have immediate impact with your analytic rigor, business focus, sophisticated communications skills, and ability to get things done.
You have experience in providing legal support in emerging technologies/business models, such as cloud, IoT, SaaS. You also have the ability to translate business opportunity into contractual models, draft and negotiate complex contractual issues, assess evolving risk, and provide concise, plain English, business-focused advice. You are a sophisticated, analytical thinker who can quickly sort through complex legal and business issues with multiple moving parts and render sound, pragmatic advice. You know how to scale providing legal services, have a continuous focus on simplification, and are comfortable in a dynamic and constantly changing technical, legal and business environment. You are a self-learner, have an open mindset and strive to see around corners. More specifically you have:
10+ years of technology transactional experience
Ability to work collaboratively with not just your team and other counsel in the Legal Department but with cross functional teams in Cisco
Extraordinary verbal and written communications and inter-personal skills
Track record of building business relationships with and gaining trust of internal clients
Responsiveness putting substance over form
Unassailable dedication to professionalism and integrity
Experienced people manager who can lead, motivate, coach and develop team members, while fostering a creative and expansive collaborative work environment
Excellent academic credentials; JD required. Bar admission in good standing.
