Job Description
Plans, organizes and directs the design of new software products and/or product enhancements through software development managers and project managers. Oversees activities in the following areas: Cloud, Applications, network/systems, database, and web development. Determines practicality based on projected costs and sales potential. Responsibility for quality assurance and development support functions. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Reports to the VP Branded Operations

Essential Functions
30% of this position will involve:
Plans and directs the design of new software products and/or product enhancements through development managers and project managers.
Determines practicality of product ideas based on projected costs and sales potential.
Services as focal point for other departments on project status or other project information
Monitors product development from initiation and planning through delivery and implementation
Works with other executives to plan and establish product goals and development strategies.
40% of this position will involve:
Ensures software projects are completed and properly documented according to product specifications, time lines, and corporate quality standards
Ensures that software products meet established long-range goals
Evaluates, develops and implements design improvements and new design concepts
Secures appropriate level of technical review support for project documentation
Ensures that appropriate development, corporate methods and procedures are followed
Manages product architecture and implementation to allow for future development and maintenance (documentation and design review).
5%of this position will involve:
Collaborate with various programming and product groups within the company to ensure the required features and modifications are included in the appropriate releases to support cross-product features.
15% of this position will involve:
Directs software development efforts with third party vendors and/or the integration of third party vendors’ software with company products.
10% of this position will involve:
Contributes to new technologies and software products to determine feasibility and desirability of incorporating their capabilities within company products

15+ years years of experience; 10+ years Supervisory experience
Preferred experience would be in the hard disk drive industry or closely related businesses such as storage components and/or semiconductors. An understanding of the dynamics at work in highly cost sensitive businesses dependent on time-to-market execution, operational excellence, and technology leadership.
