Director - Corporate FP&A - Lithium Technologies - San Francisco

We are looking for a Director, Corporate FP&A to join our team! In this role, you will directly manage a team of 4 and will be a business partner to executive management and their teams. Business planning and forecasting experience at large private or public SaaS companies is critical to perform the following responsibilities:

Semi-annual budget and monthly forecasting activities:
Lead the team in all P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow planning activities in the Adaptive Planning application. Manage the executive staff and the FP&A team to Board deadlines. Individual must be comfortable presenting directly to executive staff and delivering difficult budget messages, at times, to individuals.
Own the Sales and Services bookings and revenue plans. Knowledge of key SaaS industry metrics (e.g. ARR, CLTV, churn) is important to performing this role, as well as understanding how to do Sales and Services capacity planning based on company-level objectives.
Responsible for detailed, customer-level models in the order-to-cash area around monthly forecasting of SaaS bookings, billings, ratable revenue, deferred revenue, and cash collections. To that end, individual should be comfortable with doing customer-level research and report writing in Salesforce.com. The FP&A team will work regularly with Accounting on monthly cash management.
Help translate strategic planning objectives into workable financial assumptions and models to be layered into the budget process. Be a partner to the company and to functional management in developing financial KPIs that are indicators of good operating efficiency. Help department manager’s plan and forecast their business to drive these outcomes.
Build a monthly OPEX forecasting process. Determine the appropriate headcount and other expense reporting metrics to give advanced knowledge to functional management of when variances will occur.
Real-time and month-end reporting:
Lead the creation of real-time dashboard reporting in Domo, our BI tool. Reporting will be tailored to executive management to help identify trends and areas where operational changes are needed.
FP&A is responsible for the month-end reporting package to executive management, as well as quarterly reporting to the Board. Perform variance analysis and write-up in support. Help functional management evaluate corrective actions.
Build an ongoing product- and geography-level view of business activity. Work with the Marketing and Products organizations to perform portfolio and market analysis to help direct where the company should spend future dollars.
As Lithium and the Social Media marketplace matures, help determine the appropriate SaaS or other business metrics to apply. Understand SaaS industry comps and perform benchmarking analysis as an input to the strategic planning process.
Explore options for continued automation of BI, PowerPoint, and Excel reporting.

Spend management:
Monitor hiring, OPEX, and capital spending to remain within budgets. Manage company-wide trade-offs and new spending requests and link back to department budgets.
Understand the company’s cost-drivers and proactively offer insights into ways the company can better leverage its spend. Ties this back into department KPIs that result in efficiencies of scale with overall growth.
FP&A is responsible for actively tracking and managing purchase requisitions for all discretionary spend against department plans.
Business partner with the business operations groups to continually model and communicate the impact department changes have on the business.
Experience Requirements:
8 or more years’ experience in progressive Financial Planning & Analysis in a large private or public company. Individuals that have Audit or Accounting background as part of this work experience is acceptable.
CPA or MBA minimum education.
SaaS experience in the software industry a must.
