Director, Quality, Masco, Novi

Job Description
The Director of Quality will be a highly motivated, results oriented leader, with experience designing and implementing improvements in quality systems, global supplier quality and multi-site manufacturing operations. The position will participate with product development teams and mentor the process of defining product quality, testing protocol and material selection.The individual will also assist in customer quality reviews and issue resolution.The leader will have a broad knowledge of Quality tools and have experience driving metrics within a Continuous Improvement culture. Must have BS degree with 8 to 12 years of experience.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

· Assess and develop short and long-term plans for improving the Company’s Quality Management System.

· Define standards for process and product quality based on best practice, and successfully deploys them across all relative functional departments, factories and suppliers.

· Review and improve standard quality reporting used to drive operational excellence for our customers.

· Conduct monthly meetings with senior leadership to review metrics and gaps in critical process capability.

· Enhances quality and reliability standards with other members of management, Manufacturing, Product Management, Purchasing and Engineering.

· Works with Engineering and Marketing on new product development through established quality process (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, etc.).

· Performs or assists with root cause analysis leading to corrective action using written policies and standard laboratory practices.

· Supports Purchasing with supplier development through the development and implementation of a supplier scorecard, on-site reviews, and completion of corrective actions.

· Directs and reviews supplier assessments using industry standards (i.e. ISO) and written policies to determine qualification/performance.

· Drives the internal Rapid Response program and determines the necessary corrective actions as required.

· Facilitates cross-functional Quality Management Teams to drive product quality improvements, root cause issues (internal and external) and mitigate risks.

· Prepare the Quality department budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.

SUPERVISORY / MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

· Supervise Quality Technicians and management collaboration with multi-site Quality Managers.

Qualifications

· Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Math or similar, technical degree. Master’s
Degree preferred.

· 8+ years in Quality Engineering and/or Quality Management in a manufacturing business. A deep understanding quality tools and systems, and experience in statistical analysis. A background in product design and manufacturing processes is a plus.

· Must be able and willing to travel.

· ASQ Certification, PE, Six Sigma Black Belt (all preferred)
