Director Financial Planning Analysis AIG Houston

Job Description
The Director, Financial Forecasting, role helps key stakeholders understand the Consumer insurance business. The primary responsibilities of the Director, Financial Forecasting, include internal financial reporting of Consumer Insurance. Responsibilities of the position include analyzing the results including key performance metrics of each of the Consumer lines of business including Fixed Annuities, Group Retirement, Retirement Income Solutions, Life A&H, Personal Insurance, etc. Due to the complexity of the organization, developing a deep understanding of each of the lines of business is critical. A significant portion of the time spent will be summarizing consolidated Consumer results into executive level presentations.

This position reports to the Vice President, Consumer Insurance Financial Planning & Analysis. Reporting relationships may change in the future to best leverage the skill sets of all accounting staff. The position will require significant coordination with other areas (e.g. business line CFOs, Controllers, actuarial, tax, statutory, AMG, etc.) to get information and understand results on a timely basis and to ensure accuracy.



Performance Objectives

This individual will need to be able to operate in an extremely fast packed, complex accounting environment and one going through a great deal of change. The ability to prioritize and multi task is essential.



Key Responsibilities Of The Position Include

Analyze and research fluctuations in GAAP and STAT forecasts. Documentation of analysis and results.
Review and challenge forecast results provided by the different groups including lines of business, tax, actuarial, etc.
Develop a process whereby all analyses builds upon the last.
Drive continuous improvement of the analysis performed by Financial Planning & Analysis as it relates to all forecasts. Significant overhaul will be needed of existing analysis.
Preparation of executive level summaries that succinctly tell the story of forecasted results (e.g. weekly estimate, quarterly rolling forecast, budget, CCAR, etc.).
Drive continuous improvement of the presentations prepared by the Financial Planning & Analysis group to minimize all production time to increase capacity of the team and analysis performed.
Perform uploads of data into BPC as needed to assist the data consolidation team.
Special projects.



The Ideal Candidate Should Have

Demonstrated ability to analyze large quantities of data.
Demonstrated ability to prepare executive level summaries.
Demonstrated mentoring and listening skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-centric and front-line staff perspective.
Expert PowerPoint and Excel experience.
Proven leadership skills and positive attitude with the ability to make consistent sound and effective decisions with minimal direction.
Ability to collaborate and interact effectively with all levels of staff and management, on and offsite.
Ability to multi task with a variety of systems and processes.
Preference given for strong understanding of insurance accounting and reporting.
Financial systems knowledge preferred including but not limited to SAP ECC/BPC.
CPA a plus.
Public accounting experience a plus.
