Job Description
The Director, Business Development is to support the Company's in and out licensing, portfolio management and alliance management initiatives.
Responsibilities:
* In licensing and out licensing activities of commercial and development product opportunities for Pacira. The incumbent shall actively search for commercial partnership and licensing opportunities regarding the company's product portfolio for both Human and Animal Health.
* The incumbent will be responsible for helping to lead the identification of new potential pipeline candidates utilizing the DepoFoam drug delivery technology.
* The incumbent will assume the lead role in coordinating and performing all required due diligence activities, preparing commercial rationale and financial valuations/implications for each specific opportunity and leading the negotiations and contract drafting for each deal.
* Responsible for preparing a complete business case including proposed terms and recommendations for all proposals for management discussion, review and BOD approval.
* Work closely with the entire management team but specifically with the Sr.VP Corporate Development, CEO, CFO and Sr. VP of Pharmaceutical Development to accomplish specific and evolving goals to meet the overall Corporate Development activities and strategies of Pacira.
* Act as primary point of contact in the management of alliances with existing partners.
* The incumbent will work closely will Pacira Senior Management and their direct reports, Board Members and Pacira Legal Counsel. External interactions will include the Heads of Business Development of Commercial partners, Clinical, Regulatory, Commercial and Legal personnel and teams.
Qualifications:
* 10+ years' in the Pharmaceutical Industry with working experience in Business Development.
* Bachelor's degree related to Life Science and/or Business from an accredited College or University required; Advanced Degree preferred.
* Strong deal sheet/experience required.
* Must be highly motivated, goal oriented, diligent, attentive to detail, organized self-starter with orientation towards a high level of customer service.
* Demonstrated previous record of success in business development in a highly success driven organization in a senior level leadership position.
* Experienced in structuring, negotiating, and closing a variety of large and complex corporate and business development transactions.
* Strong network within the pharmaceutical industry.
* Sound business judgment and instincts when assessing business development opportunities.
* Good strategic thinker.
* Excellent problem solving skills. Ability to be flexible and find solutions to complex issues in a diplomatic and professional manner.
* Ability to handle simultaneous projects in an efficient and organized manner.
* Excellent written and oral English communication and presentation skills.
* Proficient in financial modeling and various valuation methodologies
* Ability to work closely and gain support of the internal organization in carrying out duties.
* Ability to travel up to 20%.
