Senior Director Product Management WebMD Portland

Job Description
The Senior Director of Product Management is the product and customer champion responsible for the market success for a suite of products with a common affinity throughout their product lifecycles. This individual will use disciplined processes for planning, roadmap management, development, and launch. These functions will include researching and understanding the market, gathering and prioritizing customer and product requirements, defining the product vision, and working collaboratively with cross functional teams such as: strategy, user experience, development, sales, marketing, finance, legal, and client services. This person will ensure revenue, client satisfaction, and end-user goals are met, along with support for the company's overall strategy and objectives.

The individual in this role oversees and manages other product managers, and will be responsible for development, mentoring, and ensuring individual and team objectives are established and achieved. This person will be the face of the product suite to internal teams including executive management as well as to external audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducting market research and developing market requirements for current products and emerging opportunities, and implement those into a product strategy with executable plans
Leverage and analyze primary and secondary research and apply the results to the product suite.
Analyze the market as a whole including market size, penetration, and trends, and facilitate thorough product competitive analysis, SWOT analysis, and positioning.
Solicit and coordinate the consideration of feedback and input into product design from sales, client services, prospects, clients, and other stakeholders.
Oversee the development of sound and justifiable business cases and present these to executive management.
Develop and verify product launch plans and key deliverables with milestones and assign accountability.
Managing the entire product suite life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
Identify client and end-user challenges, needs, expectations, and desires.
Develop, communicate, promote, and continuously refine a product vision, strategy and roadmap aligned with business goals, objectives, and market needs.
Work with analytics, reporting operations and other stakeholders to define the success metrics for the products and create client-facing reports that demonstrate the value of the product suite to clients and internal stakeholders.
Provide detailed information, best practices, and support through the implementation process.
Driving a solution set across development, client services, marketing, and sales
Oversee and actively manage the end-to-end product lifecycle, ensuring the user stories are appropriately defined and executed, under both an Agile and Lean process, delivering on-target solutions and expediting value.
Facilitate cross-functional teams and disciplined project management with potentially challenging delivery and deployment models.
Implement a process for trade-off decisions between product scope, cost/resources, and timing, and be able to execute authoritative decision-making when necessary.
Be the day-to-day “business contact” for the organization regarding the product suite.
Ensure requirements are created in terms of user stories and prioritized in the backlog.
Proactively manage – with support from marketing and design – focus groups and usability studies to validate appropriateness of proposed solutions.
Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute
In collaboration with product marketing, sales, and the executive team, place, package, price, position, and promote products and related services both internally and externally.
As SME of the product suite, support strategic marketing, sales, client services, and business development in their respective prospect, customer, partner, and market-facing activities.
Manage the launch of new solutions and enhancements, ensuring supportive documentation and training materials along with training sales, client services and other stakeholders on the product suite.
Manage product managers to efficiently and effectively deliver on the success of the products within the product suite, for the benefit of clients, end-users, the division and the company.
Mentor and develop the product managers on all of the skills and expertise describe in the paragraphs above, including the more typical individual product manager capabilities such as development of user stories, attending daily stand up’s, and ensuring coordinated delivery and launch.
Create a team of highly collaborative members that inspire confidence, leadership, and a can-do attitude across the organization for their products.
Support the creation and deployment of organizational disciplined processes for new product introductions.
Take ultimate responsibility for the success of the team and the products within the suite.
Desired Skills and Experience
Demonstrated repeated market successes of products that inspire and create true consumer behavior change
A visible passion for technology, innovation, healthcare, and most importantly, customers
Track record of successfully managing product managers and leading cross-functional teams to implement software
Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and balance conflicting and ambiguous priorities
Strong business acumen and executive presence
Excellent presentation and communication skills (written and verbal)
Disciplined processes and skills that are consistently utilized and encouraged

A leader with a relentless winning attitude, optimistic approach, and a desire to learn and grow
Ability to travel frequently
10+ years prior experience in product management for prominent, market leading products
MBA or equivalent graduate degree
(Preferred) Experience with healthcare IT
(Preferred) Experience with mobile application development
