Director Program Delivery National Grid Waltham

Job Description
Direct the management of a number of programs from initiation to completion that delivers business change and subsequent benefits. Achieved by leveraging the range of resources and experience across the full IS function while influencing key stakeholders to achieve successful delivery. Will also act as the Program Director for larger programs in a hands-on manner.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Successfully shape and deliver a range of complex and challenging programs to deliver business value
Introduce and embed a culture of commercial rigour to the team


Ensure the rationale for all projects is underpinned by a strong business case which is transparent to the programme sponsor within the business and maximises National Grids investment in technology.
Ensure that the value of each programme is evident using business models
Directing programs within a business function utilising all available resources and relationships
Managing dependencies, risks, plans, costs and resourcing needs across multiple programs
Ensures that the Program offers a range of options and implements a change which achieves the objectives that have been set and that the business benefits are realised
Initiates formal reviews of the Program and its achievements
Engage and influence stakeholders
Introduce best practice programme and project management principles and ensure these are adhered to. Operate as a role model for Valued Business Partner, championing similar behaviours across IS

Knowledge & Experience Required
Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Extensive experience at successfully delivering challenging and complex technology programs/ business change involving working with globally based employees and development partners
Has the ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders at Director/EVP level.
Has proven leadership, relationship, communication and presentation skills
A good knowledge of the business and IS strategy and drivers.
Understands National Grids policies, management structures and reporting procedures for all aspects of the Program’s environment. Demonstrate the Valued Business Partner capabilities and behaviours in all interactions with IS Colleagues, vendors and business stakeholders.
Confirmation of successfully leading large scale programs and managing protfolios of project and programs.
