Senior Director Global R&D and Sustainability PepsiCo Purchase

Responsibilities
This unique and highly engaging, cross-functional role spans both the Global R&D and Sustainability functions at PepsiCo. Working directly with our Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and Vice Chairman, Dr. Mehmood Khan, you will be responsible for developing and executing business/project plans, including key deliverables, resources and timelines in support of the Global R&D and Sustainability organization. Specific areas of focus include:
Lead efforts - in coordination with R&D Sr. Leadership Team (SLT) - to improve and standardize key metrics for the Global R&D function including scorecard metrics, as well as internal and external measurement tools. Critical role will be to coordinate efforts on the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for global R&D, including staffing plans/resource allocation, as well as ongoing compilation of competitive analysis and in partnership with the R&D function, key knowledge management for global R&D.
In coordination with the category teams, track and manage overall R&D deliverables and sustainability metrics for review with Vice Chair and SLT as appropriate.
Under guidance of CSO and Vice Chairman- Sustainability, plan, track and manage special initiatives (external speaking engagements, executive leadership meetings, workshops/expert panels discussions, etc).
Role will span across the global functions (R&D, Supply Chain, Operations, Government Affairs, Communications, and Global Procurement) to support and enable the Office of Sustainability.
Provide tools and direction to align approach and consistent measurement tools to ensure one consistent and coordinated voice in the area of Sustainability.
Support the Sustainability Governance Committee by creating agendas, tracking documents and meeting minutes as well as quarterly Sustainability scorecards for review with PepsiCo Executive Committee/Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
STRATEGIC PLANNING, BUDGET DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT
Lead development of standard approach and overall storyboard for the Global R&D Strategic Capabilities Plan (SCP) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) as well as approach to R&D presentations and position papers to the Board of Directors
Lead process to gain consistency and clarity on strategic framework for performance management and scorecards to accurately and consistently measure category and Governance and Compliance results
In concert with leadership, create process for projects leveraging cross-divisional technical resources, third party design firms and Universities/Research Schools.
Align with internal business partners on long term strategies to ensure executional excellence
Lead development of Sustainability agenda, work-plan and scorecard metrics.
WORK PLAN MANAGEMENT
Manage overall Global R&D and PepsiCo Sustainability calendars, including schedule for key deliverable's including Senior Leadership Team meetings, AOP templates/story line and framework for Strategic Growth plan
Schedule and execute quarterly progress reviews for overall deliverable's including preparation of sustainability scorecard reviews at PEC
MANAGE CSO, SLT and VICE CHAIR - SUSTAINABILITY AGENDAS (Visits/Tours/Business Reviews)
In conjunction with R&D Communications team, create materials for (internal) Leadership Meetings, Cascade Meetings, FFG's, Annual Commercial Meeting as well as other events highlighting activities by the CSO
Develop standard presentation Decks for Management Customer visits
In partnership with the Sustainability Office, monitor information from (external) Sustainability Conferences and key meetings.
In conjunction with Sustainability Communications team, create materials for (internal) leadership meetings and other communications venues.
10 Years of relevant experience in progressive research and scientific management area in consumer packaged goods industry
Experience managing AOP and integrated strategic planning processes, with focus on strategic simplification and continuous improvement
Demonstrated data analytics and interpretation capabilities
Proven collaborative, leadership, and influencing style. Able to bring clarity to ambiguous situations
Experience understanding and managing needs of global organization. Change management experience and skills will be helpful in this role.
