Director Global Procurement Controls PepsiCo Purchase
Job description
Responsible for managing the accounting and control for Global Procurement contracts, Division/Bottler passback calculations and payments covering Rigid packaging (Bottles, Closures, Cans, Glass and Resin), Flexible packaging (Films, Labels, Paperboard, Corrugated, BIB, Pallets and Shells), Sweeteners (HFCS, Sugar, High Intensity Sweetener), CO2, Nitrogen, fruit and juice, and Indirect items such as Advertising, Services, Capital and Energy (primarily North America beverage related procurement, and procurement that cuts across both beverage and foods)
Manage approximately $500MM of annual supplier rebates and commodity reconciliations for Corn, Resin and Aluminum. Ensure timely payment of supplier rebates and manage GP cash forecasting process.
Manage annual supplier invoice payments of approximately $150MM - $200MM and ensure compliance with agreed to contract terms.
This role requires excellent communication and influence skills to allow for effective collaboration with the CPO, GP CFO, SVP's (Directs and Indirects), COE VP's, Sr. Directors, Division Controllers and Planning counterparts.
In additional to having strong accounting skills, this individual must have or develop solid knowledge of the operational side of the business. They must also be able to explain accounting rationale to non-accountants to drive alignment, and support their points effectively and persuasively when challenged.
Specific Responsibilities Of The Role Are As Follows
Coach and lead core GP Accounting/Control team
Ensure growth and development of team.
Build team's capabilities to provide robust accounting and control support to procurement teams and impacted divisions
Support GP Procurement teams noted above, and divisions impacted, in assessing risks and accounting impact of potential / planned arrangements with suppliers, especially those that are unique / non-routine in nature
Development of open lines of communication with procurement teams regarding on-going projects and initiatives, and any outstanding financial concerns with suppliers
Recurring, effective management reporting in place to quickly identify issues
Manage close process, pricing communications, and rebate passbacks
Analyze and explain variances between actual rebate pass backs and forecast to GP Controller and Sr. Director Planning
Lead quarter GP control meetings with Division Controllers discussing key contract items
Accurate and well controlled management of rebates
Accurate accounting associated with contract terms and conditions
Ensure team has complete and accurate accounting checklists in place for all contracts with no items missed each period close.
Review accuracy of quarterly & period WAP's (weighted average prices calculated by planners). Ensure WAP's are based on the right accounting and supported by signed contracts.
Ensure compliance with Independent Bottler (FOBO) services agreement
Ensure complete listing of reportable obligations across all managed COE's
Review and approve journal entries, payments, spreadsheet models, and other calculations prepared by team members.
Implement all necessary controls, reporting, and scorecards to minimize risks and potential for P&L surprises
Prepare Global Procurement Rep Letter to PepsiCo Controller, research and ensure compliance with emerging issues
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting and CPA required
10+ years of related Accounting and Control experience
Audit experience
Strong analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership skills, and drive for results
Ability to work in matrix organization; handle competing priorities; influence others to meet data needs
Strong ability to articulate and educate non-accountants regarding the reasons behind accounting requirements and controls to ensure alignment and compliance
Experience managing others
Understanding of Financial Accounting standards (derivative accounting knowledge and/or foreign exchange risk management preferred)
Experience with Excel, Essbase, Business Objects, SAP, Databases, and presentations in PowerPoint
Structured, logical thinking, focused on problem solving and process improvement
Highly organized, with exceptional planning and time management skills
