This is an exciting opportunity for a Director in Research and Development to lead our PCI Guidance franchise. Primary responsibilities include the identification, development, and implementation of new products and technologies, evolving the organizational structure as the business continues to grow, developing people to strengthen the team, and being an active member of the leadership team.
In PCI Guidance, we design, develop, and commercialize products for diagnosing coronary artery disease and other cardiovascular disorders. We are investing in new products and innovations that will allow us to grow into new geographies and high-growth adjacency markets. This is an opportunity to lead a high-performing team in a high-growth segment of the IC market.
Key Responsibilities
Launches new products to drive growth
Identifies new strategies and projects for the investigation, design, and implementation of new or improved products and/or applications. Articulates strategic fit, assessment, and valuation of strategic opportunities.
Fosters an entrepreneurial environment.
Exhibits strong management skills to ensure that the team performs at a high level. Responsible for succession planning and the development and implementation of retention strategies.
Fosters relationships with physicians and/or industry specialists.
Identifies future technology and intellectual property critical to future business growth and drives implementation.
Champions new programs or refocuses existing initiatives based on knowledge of unmet clinical needs of customers and develops proposals for new projects. Develops budgets and ensure schedules meet corporate requirements.
Ensures that new product and processing technologies are ready for new product development efforts.
Partners with Marketing and Business Development for strategic questions around market modeling, assessment of competitive threats, and resource allocations.
Acts as entry point and contact for external entities approaching BSC for partnership.
Supports divisional Strategic Planning and Annual Operating Plan processes as needed to include competitive analysis, market sizing and growth rates, evaluation and recommendation of business strategies and tactics.
Works across divisional and corporate functions to accomplish objectives. Shares initiatives, ideas, and accomplishments across the divisions.
Develops effective and persuasive presentations for divisional leadership and EC level meetings.
Basic Qualifications
12 years technical professional experience including 8+ years in the medical device industry.
8+ years people management experience
BS degree in Engineering or applicable field (MS preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
Track record of successfully leading a diverse team across multiple locations.
Experience in medical systems (combination of hardware, software, and disposable devices).
