Job Description
The Director of Product Development role requires an experienced professional to manage our product development efforts. The incumbent of this role will have the primary responsibility of creating, managing, and executing a comprehensive product development plan, scorecard, milestones, and budget in coordination with the manufacturing, sales, marketing, and finance departments within McGuire. This person will be focused on identifying opportunities in the market as well as addressing the needs of McGuire's primary distribution partners, including trade showrooms and retail stores.


The Ideal Candidate Must Have Certain Educational Credentials

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited school or industrial design college

The Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following Leadership Experience



* 5 years experience in a managerial capacity with a product development role

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


1 Develop and introduce new products consistent with the McGuire's design philosophy whilst setting the company apart in the market as an innovative brand.
2 Identify emerging designers who may be appropriate candidates for future collections, and partner with outside designers to realize their visions in the context of marketplace opportunities.

3 Marshall entire collections of products from design concept stage through to production, working within time and budget constraints.

4 Analyze product performance, make recommendations for changes to existing collections, and identify opportunities for new product introductions and line extensions.

5 Maintain clear focus on competitors, customer preferences, and conditions at the high end of the design market.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES


* Extensive product design and development experience at the high end of the home furnishings market

* Strong technical skills and the financial savvy to maximize gross margin and return on investment

* Superior management and leadership skills: decisive, tough-minded yet fair, results-oriented, team-oriented, self-motivated, and highly innovative

* Change agent with outstanding taste

* Excellent communication and presentation skills written and verbal

* Strong budget management, time management, and staff development
