Director - Lobbyist - Verizon - Washington

Job description
Work closely with leadership to negotiate contracts, dissect and examine intricate legal and regulatory matters, and ensure all our is are dotted and ts are crossed. Youll tackle some of the toughest challenges shaping our business.

Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert and public policy advocate on Verizon’s Legislative Affairs team assisting with the formation, coordination, and implementation of Verizon’s legislative advocacy activities.

Develop and maintain positive relationships with and advocate before Members of Congress and their staffs with responsibility for representing Verizon before members in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Facilitate outreach with members and staff to advance multiple public policy issues of interest to Verizon and its customers which include: corporate and consumer tax reform, 21st century communications policy framework, spectrum pipeline for the continued growth of mobile broadband, patent reform, cybersecurity and data breach.
Serve as a member of Verizon’s legislative team by engaging in political outreach, including coordinating PAC giving to Congressional candidates.
Represent Verizon in national political forums and actively participate in coalitions that promote Verizon’s public policy goals.
Assist with coordinating outside consultants to support Verizon’s legislative priorities on a wide range of issues.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree (required); graduate degree (prefered).
8+ years of relavent experience.
Established network of professional relationships with specific line of sight into Congressional politics and U.S. House of Representatives.
Professionally sophisticated problem solver with the ability to understand conflicting dynamics and colaborate on mutually beneficial solutions.
Strong leadership skills.
Excellent communications skill, both verbal and written.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Strong leadership and advocacy / negotiation skills.
