Job description
The FCC Analytics, Team Lead is responsible for applying analytics techniques to the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) domain. The FCC Analytics, Team Lead will work closely with key stakeholders across the bank to identify patterns, risk indicators, linkages and illicit activities within FCC datasets and be responsible for Detection Scenario optimization, driving continuous improvement in operations, and capacity planning. The role will also build and manage a team of Data Mining analysts.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Overall Responsibilities
Identify, design and test Detection Scenario (DS) models to improve the quality of alerts generated.
Propose new DS by identifying patterns using data mining techniques and advanced algorithms on customer data, transaction data and sanctions datasets; new transaction monitoring typologies must address known gaps or proactively capture emerging Anti Money laundering / Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) trends
Perform capacity planning for both short and long term based on volume analysis, dynamically forecast future volumes based on historical trends.
Partner with Technology team based out of Chennai on data extraction and associated technology based issues.
Look for areas of opportunity to continually optimize current and future operations.
Maintain the design and metrics of dashboards that permit Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) to dynamically monitor operational metrics.
Leadership and Management
Provide leadership and direction to the Financial Crime Risk data governance program
Provide leadership through analytic insights and system optimization
Recruit, train and manage a team of Data Mining Analyst professionals whose primary responsibilities include the identification and testing of DS models to support quality alerts
Perform capacity planning for both short and long term based on volume analysis, dynamically forecast future volumes based on historical trends.
Ensures direct report(s) are proactively developing and implementing standards, processes and metrics to support organizational objectives and mitigate risk exposure.
Lead and develop an effective team through communication, performance management, development plans and reward/recognition practices.
Stakeholder Relations
Continually monitor the external environment through various internal/external sources and the media to identify financial crime risks which may potentially impact the bank in future, map and assess those risks, quantify the potential impact and escalate where necessary.
Qualifications And Skills
Technical Competencies
Ability to derive patterns and analysis from both structured and unstructured data.
Ability to structure and organize large sets of data in order to conduct advanced level analysis and reporting.
Proven experience in Detection Scenario optimization preferred.
Solid experience in Statistical Analysis System (SAS) / Structured Query Language (SQL) and other (Business intelligence) BI Tools, including Business Objects/Cognos
Sound knowledge of programming concepts
Advanced knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, etc.)
Effective Communication
Ability to ensure relevant stakeholders receive pertinent and timely information on developments in the business.
Well developed ability to use communication channels appropriate to the matter at hand.
Strong oral and written communications and representation skills
Proven ability to speak confidently and concisely across a range of topics with high quality output.

Able to collaborate and work in a team setting while also being self-motivated and self-reliant, with the ability to complete tasks independently and in a timely manner.
Leadership & Management
Up to 3 years of demonstrated management/supervisory experience of increasing responsibility.
Possess demonstrated leadership and management potential and the capacity to deliver requisite teaching, coaching supervision and development support to direct reports.
Education, Accreditation & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or related field of study from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree viewed positively.
5+ years analytical experience in identifying trends and proposing new or revised analytical approaches to discover illicit activity within data sets. Prior working experience in Financial Services, Banking, Law Enforcement, Regulatory environment.
