Job Description
The Communications Director for Diabetes Care, provides strategic direction, counsel and leadership for internal (employee) and external communications programs. Develops implements and coordinates community engagement efforts for Roche Diabetes Care Inc. Edits and oversees distribution of internal and external communication materials which may include the following: corporate/site initiatives, newsletters, brochures, ads and intranet content. Partners with executive management, in order to project the desired corporate message and maintain global corporate brand guidelines in both external and internal mediums.
Provides the main Interface with various vendors and acts as the corporate spokesperson to the media and general public at large. Provides strategic counsel, media training and media communications in support of all areas for RDCI. Supports and help drive significant change management and organizational transformation, leveraging impactful communication tools to support the successful effort. Provides strategic decision making, leadership and planning including the efficient and effective use of resources. Has full budget responsibility for assigned functional area or departments. Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Leads the development of overall communications site strategy, goals and objectives and/or project budget, timelines & deliverables.
Actively participate in various initiatives and operate as the interface for communications- Vision, mission promotion, GEOS results, HR site activities, etc…
Supports and help drive organizational transformation and change management, leveraging communication tools to support the effort.
Partners with executive management in designing, editing and overseeing distribution of RDCI internal and external communications.
Act as a filter in message cascading and distribution for the site.
Supports communication efforts for Canada and Puerto Rico.
Town Halls and Event Planning – creating positive employee experiences and opportunities for exposure to customers and patients.
Participate actively in creating positive employee experiences through effective communications.
Potential to engage the community and leverage Roche employee activities and community involvement.
Serves as the RDCI North American liaison with global Corporate Communications as well as all local entities.
Actively works with other local communication entities to ensure consistency of messages.
Serve as a member of the RDCI leadership team.
Coordinate website and other media content.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field with 7 years communications or related business experience.
3 years of previous management or supervisory experience.
Expert-level written and verbal communications skills.
Solid corporate and business knowledge.
Excellent leadership qualities, including motivating others, team building, and credibility.
Demonstrated ability to support organizational transformation and change .
Demonstrated excellence in customer relations and building partnerships at all levels within an organization.
Strong analytical skills and problem solving ability.
Demonstrated ability in prioritizing multiple projects.
Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity.
Political savvy.
Strategic acumen, combined with strong execution skills.
