Position Summary
The Design Director is responsible for developing the CK Men’s Performance line for USA Wholesale under the direction of the VP Design- Calvin Klein Men’s Sportswear.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities Of The Job
Work with VP Design and design team to research and develop concept, color, fabrics, print and graphics and hardware designs for men’s performance product.

Design concepts based on merchandising plan.
Attend fittings, and review prototypes.
Convey all information to pertinent parties (Sourcing and Merchandising). Also responsible for communicating all necessary information for the technical packages.
Prepares design presentations for review meetings.
Ensures timely development of line by adhering to time and action calendar.
Responsible for organizing relevant information (mill cards, files of Collections etc).
Responsible for the management, selection and training of staff in conjunction with the VP – Design.

Internal & External Contacts

Internal: Design Team, Supply Chain Team, Raw Materials Team, Planning/Merchandising Team, Sales Team, Tech Team

External: Factories, Vendors

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct: Sr. Designer, Designer 1, Assistant Designer

Indirect:Design Studio Coordinator, Interns, Freelancers

Decision Making

The Design Director holds a vital role in the development of the Calvin Klein Performance line for each season, giving direction to the designers and presenting the line to senior management.

Resourcefulness/Creativity

Highly creative role, requiring strong awareness of current global trends in fashion and active, as well as awareness of latest technology in fabric and trim R&D.

Environment

Fast paced, deadline driven creative environment with a focus on teamwork across all CK Sportswear teams.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience:

7+ years design experience with extensive experience in menswear design. Experience in performance/active is a plus, but not a requirement. Looking for an individual with a strong aesthetic ability to translate modern fashion into an active lifestyle.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design.
Skills:

Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
Possess high fashion aesthetics.
Previous experience working with Asia and Europe.
Flexible to travel.
