Job description
The Opportunity
As Director of Strategy and Corporate Business Development, you will join a team responsible for defining CSL’s strategic priorities. This includes searching, evaluating and executing opportunities through corporate business development.as well as helping to define corporate strategy and leading strategic projects.


The Role
It is the Director of Strategy and Corporate Business Development’s responsibility to:

Search and evaluate new opportunities for business growth that are aligned with CSL’s corporate strategy

Identify and assess M&A targets that deliver shareholder value, with lead responsibility for specific therapeutic areas

Lead due diligence efforts for specified opportunities and ensure targets meet CSL strategic and financial requirements

Build financial models to evaluate potential business areas and specific opportunities

Manage interactions with the investment banker community and third party consultants

Act as a key contributor in the development of materials needed for negotiations and the finalisation of contracts

Lead, or be a key team member on internal strategic projects that aim to define or refine CSL strategy in critical growth areas

Play an important role in CSL’s corporate strategic planning process

Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful



The applicant must possess the following qualifications and skills:

Undergraduate or graduate degree in biological science or medicine preferred

MBA strongly preferred

At least 5 years’ experience in a corporate strategy, business development, strategy consulting or investment banking role, in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology sector

Ability to understand the “big picture” and to define and tell a strategic story

Creativity and innovation

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

Very strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities

Financial and business acumen

Ability to conduct high quality research on potential target companies, sectors and new business areas, and drive to recommendations

Demonstrated understanding of how business / corporate strategy drives company value

Ability to adapt quickly and flexibly to changing role requirements. Tolerance of ambiguity

Ability to both lead and be a productive member of multi-functional teams

International experience desirable
