PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Director of Operations is the operations leader for Venture Measurement Company in Spartanburg, SC. Primary responsibilities include leading exempt and hourly associates in manufacturing, quality, supply chain/materials, machining and maintenance in the production and repair of instrumentation products. These products include level switches, inventory control systems, and liquid level gauges that are critical to process industries. Responsibilities include all aspects of manufacturing at the Spartanburg facility as well as leading safety, environmental compliance, productivity improvements, investment decisions & operating cost improvement initiatives, quality, and Danaher Business System deployment. This position is responsible for recruiting, developing and promoting excellent associates. As a member of the Venture senior staff reporting to the VP/GM, the successful candidate will help develop and drive the strategic plan and top-level policy deployment for the business.
Essential Functions
Lead global manufacturing and field service operations:
a. Maintain greater than 95% fill rate to customer request
b. Reduce internal and external quality PPM to six sigma levels
c. Improve inventory turns 20% per year
d. Improve productivity 6% per year.
Policy-deploy initiatives within the manufacturing operation regarding quality, delivery, cost, and safety.
Champion DBS (Danaher Business System) continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform operations integration of acquisitions as they occur.
Recruit, develop, retain and promote a high performing team.
Play lead role in integrating manufacturing operations of acquired companies
QUALIFICATION AND JOB REQUIREMENTS
• BS Engineering or similar 4-year undergraduate degree; MBA or graduate degree highly desired.
• Minimum of 5 years experience leading people in a manufacturing/operations environment.
• Process driven, fact based, focus on continuous improvement and results orientation.
• Quality systems understanding.
• Six sigma or DBS background.
• Materials management experience.
• Project management skills.
• Analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Experience in low-volume/high-mix plan daily rate production as well as build-to-order.
• Experience in low cost region sourcing and manufacturing.
• Experience in business acquisition integration.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
