Job description

The ideal Director, Finance, Retail Segment is a high-potential, ambitious, entrepreneurial, and business savvy individual who brings outstanding analytical skills and thorough knowledge of accounting principles to a company were he/she can have input and make a demonstrable impact on the business. The Director, Finance, Retail Segment will report to the VP of Retail, with a dotted line reporting relationship to the SVP, Retail. The role will have leadership responsibility for the Retail Finance Team, as well as working relationships with both the International and E-commerce Finance leaders.
THE RUNDOWN
Oakley is a wholly owned division of the Luxottica Group (NYSE: LUX), which generates annual sales of +$8 billion, operating stores across the North America, Latin America, Asia-Pac and EMEA regions. In addition to owning the finance department for the global stores business, the Director, Finance, Retail Segment will be also be responsible for reporting numbers for the entire Retail segment, including D2C, to our parent company, Luxottica.
This individual must bring a proven track record of success within finance roles, as well as an ability to develop a vision and understand how to lead the Finance Department toward accomplishing the division and organization’s mission and strategic goals. They must be able to operate within and synthesize information from multiple business models, as well as bring the information forward in a cohesive and compelling go-forward business strategy. The ability to navigate ambiguity, successfully manage change, and problem-solve with minimal noise are also desired competencies.
The most desirable candidate will also be on the leading edge of modern methods of public finance and service, as well as demonstrate how they have and will continuously invest in their own self-development.
The Essential Functions
Directly overseeing and managing the financials of Domestic and International Retail stores, as well as reporting out on the broader Retail Segment.
Clear understanding and global business knowledge of International business.
Proven track record of developing and achieving the division and company goals.
Responsible for overseeing the business unit’s financial operations, forecasting, budgeting, month-end variance analysis, capital project tracking, and audits of financial records to ensure completeness and conformance with company and industry standards.
Contribute towards business unit Annual Operating Plan (AOP) by providing over-arching business strategies, budget and sales forecasts.
Work with operating management to manage business unit P&L, ensuring sales, profit margins, and expenses are in line with company guidance.
Lead the development of business unit annual budgets.
Manage department short term financial forecasting and planning process.
Evaluate and monitor performance and compliance with established policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to gain operational efficiencies and increase profitability.
Partner with operating management to constantly evaluate business KPI and improve business performance.
Perform high level research and analyze complex information for trends.
Evaluate different gross margin scenarios and the impact on inventory turn, sell-through and product life cycle.
Build appropriate performance metrics reporting.
Maintain relationships other Oakley business units to identify opportunities and synergies.
Partner with the VP of Retail on the organization with a goal of continuously developing and improving systems.
Work with the VP of Retail and other directors in the identification and development of new business projects.
Evaluate and improve processes and reporting, infrastructure, implementing new technologies to support key capabilities as required for future growth.
Utilize financial data to diagnose business strengths and weaknesses and identify the implications for potential strategies; keeping a financial perspective in the forefront when making strategic decisions. Ability to apply financial understanding to impact the business.
THE QUALIFIERS
8-10 years of professional finance working experience.
5+ years of team management experience.
BA in Finance and/or Masters of Business Administration Degree.
Superior analytical skills. Thorough knowledge of ROI, IRR, Cash Flow Analysis, and other business finance measures of profitability.
High level of prioritization and multitasking.
Critical thinking required.
Should be a motivated self-starter, process-oriented with high attention to detail.
Employee development and performance management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Ability to work in fast-paced team environment and flexibility to accommodate demanding project schedules.
Polished presentation skills; powerful and articulate communicator
