Director - FBA Product Development - Amazon - Seattle


Job description
The primary role of a Director within Amazon Product Development is to invent new products and features on behalf of customers: working cross-functionally to drive ideas from conception to execution, developing marketing plans to drive awareness and adoption, segmenting customers and developing business models, defining and analyzing success metrics, managing strategic projects, and being the business owner of the product.
The role is global in scope and the leader will be responsible for rapid, profitable selection expansion and ensuring a well-articulated product strategy across that is responsive to customer needs in each of the 10 countries we operate in including both established and emerging markets. The role requires a high level of interaction and synergy with Software Development teams, Operations leaders, Retail and Marketplace businesses and program leaders.
As Director of Product Development in the Fulfillment by Amazon group, you will lead a Product Development team focused on defining and building products and applications for Amazon and our Sellers. You will drive the strategy and vision for the evolution of the product, and oversee the development and management of multiple product roadmaps based on that strategy and vision. This role is inherently cross-functional—you will work closely with software engineering, design, operations, finance, and business leaders to bring products to market and develop and grow business opportunities for Amazon. A successful candidate will be highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality, simple products and applications that customers love.

Key Job Responsibilities

Lead the development of the product strategy and vision for multiple products.
Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners.
Oversee the definition and management of high quality, product roadmaps based on team strategy and vision.
Manage prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance and operational support load.
Work closely with and software engineering teams, design, and program management in an agile environment to deliver products to market. Manage delivery of current products concurrently with future product planning.
Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals.
Hire and manage a team of world-class product developers, providing guidance and direction to achieve the product vision and strategy.
Partner with business leaders across the company in developing products and features and communicating/following-up on actionable insights.

Demonstrated ability to dive deep in understanding the product, our business, and the competitive landscape
BA/BS in Business, Operations, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent.
15+ years of experience operating, managing, and delivering results in an online product management role.
MBA preferred
Proven success in delivering products and services in a high growth environment.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
Strengths in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives.
Demonstrated ability to understand and discuss technical concepts, manage tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with internal and external partners.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, innovatively and creatively using sound business judgment and quantitative skills.
A passion for customer experience combined with business curiosity and a strategic viewpoint.
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and good business judgment.
