Director - Corporate Portfolio Management - CME Group - Chicago


Job description
Position Overview
The candidate will lead the definition and implementation of CME’s corporate project portfolio management capabilities. This includes aligning the organization’s projects to its strategic objectives, monitoring the execution of the projects and the realization of project value, and adjusting the plans based on changes to the portfolio. The candidate will lead project portfolio decision making with executives from all of CME’s divisions. The candidate must communicate information about the health of the portfolio to a variety of audiences including executive-level.


Key Activities
Lead project selection & prioritization decisions. Work with Finance and other division leaders to define business cases, project initiation & valuation standards and practices. Utilize project portfolio information to lead decisions with CME leadership to better align resource allocation based on corporate strategy and objectives.
Collaborate with project management leaders to define and prioritize project management training objectives and curriculum.
Design and implement proper project monitoring to recognize and manage changes which impact the project portfolio.
Manage integration of project financial information with corporate financial and procurement reporting systems.
Define and implement project benefits tracking processes and tools.
Managing portfolio-level risk.
Utilize project portfolio information to make lead decisions with CME leadership to align resource allocation with corporate strategy and objectives.

Key Qualifications
Strong track record of project delivery and benefits realization.
Expertise in Portfolio/Demand management concepts, project valuation and benefits.
Experience in business case development and project financial management.
Experience in the identification, assessment, and management of risks.
Experience in strategic planning and analysis.
Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills. Able to work effectively with colleagues, managers, executives, and stakeholders. Skilled in developing effective partnership relationships with portfolio stakeholders.
Exceptional written and presentation skills; able to clearly communicate complex messages to a variety of audiences including executive-level.
Tactful, resolute, and committed to providing excellent customer service.
Ability to plan and organize work and self in order to achieve objectives and targets. Determined to deliver outcomes and able to overcome obstacles in order to move forward. Accountable for the delivery of outcomes, strives to meet and exceed expectations.
