Director - Financial & Business Analysis - HSBC - New York


Job description
This position leads and coordinates RBWM Finance’s delivery of all Stress Testing requirements: the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR), the Dodd-Frank Act Stress Testing (DFAST), the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) stress testing, the European Banking Authority (EBA) stress testing and other similar potential future requirements. Such requirements require first-class skills in a number of areas, notably: project management, financial competency, understanding macro-economics and impacts on the RBWM business, clear articulation of complex financial concepts to a range of stakeholders, and building effective working relationships with a range of teams.


Key deliverables are the submission of projections to the stress testing systems and the presentation of those projections and supporting “story” at various review and challenge sessions with senior Finance and Business leaders. To enable successful delivery, the role-holder will need to run a tight process around the operational elements of the RBWM Finance stress testing processes with a focus on time management and managing the work allocation of the RBWM Finance core stress testing team. The role-holder will also need to be able to quickly assimilate and respond to complex information and be able to successful influence a range of stakeholders.



In addition, the position will be required to work with the Head of Management Information and Planning to build stress-testing into a truly BAU process. This will involve the continued development and improvement of the RBWM Finance projection models, and the eventually merging of the stress testing and internal planning processes. From time to time the role-holder may also be required to respond to the dynamic nature of the business by supporting various ad hoc requirements outside of the direct area of stress testing. Such support will naturally vary in nature but be expected to include developing deep business analysis for EXCO and RBWM management, actively participating in pricing and planning models for the AOP and driving improvement projects of varied nature. Delivery in this regard requires effective working with senior management to provide highly complex financial and technical analysis of current and/or proposed product lines, pricing models and methodologies, business channels, business opportunities and/or internal measurements and methodologies.



Key Activities
Working across a broad team to coordinate the monthly/quarterly CCAR submission process including timelines, roles and responsibilities, key milestones, progress updates and issue resolution with a focus on accuracy, completeness, timeliness and transparency of information
Partner and subject matter expert for the central team
Build out required modeling necessary to shock the products impacted by stress testing including the maintenance & documentation of the models and coordination cross function including Risk and Asset & Liability Management
Face off senior executives of the local regulator
Ensure the consolidated information presented to the FRB is consistent and reconciled with other results, forecasts, etc.
Partnering with Risk, Audit and/or SOX to review and document existing control environment and identify opportunities for enhanced controls.
Partnering with HTS, PMO and others to research and recommend automation of reporting solutions.
Besides US regulators HSBC performs stress testing for the UK regulator and it is expected that the jobholder manages these processes as well
To ensure full understanding of the process , involvement in the Business AOP for RBWM will be required on regularly basis

Skills Needed
