Director - Risk Management - Saint-Gobain - Valley Forge


Job description
We are currently searching for a Director Risk Management in our Valley Forge, PA location.

Job Responsibilities:
NORTH AMERICAN (NA) RISK MANAGEMENT: For all NA businesses, identify and assess risk; implement loss control measures to prevent or minimize risk of loss; identify and implement appropriate risk financing strategies to minimize the financial impact of those losses that do occur and to minimize the total cost of risk to NA operations; manage claims for all lines of insurance.
Deliver internal and external risk management products and services to NA operations by working with Business Presidents, VPs of Operations, Controllers and Senior Leaders of the Delegation Law, HSE, HR, Internal Audit, IT, Procure and Accounting departments. Promote Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and facilitate BCP implementation with the businesses. Select/Purchase risk management vendors to provide services and manage vendor relationships to insure optimal pricing and effective service delivery. Maintain up-to-date risk management information systems.

DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT: Manage department of 4 individuals, providing direction on departmental and individual activities. Develop staff to effectuate succession plans when openings arise. Oversee development of NA insurance budget, including loss reserve analysis, insurance premium projections and allocations across all NA operations. Develop and manage Risk Management Department budget in accordance with Delegation guidelines.

CAPTIVE MANAGEMENT: Manage assets of SGIL which exceed $33 million to date and continue to grow; responsible for implementing/managing insurance programs and business plan changes; review financial information including un-audited and audited financial statements, budget forecasts, actuarial reports; reviews/approves all underwriting and general/administrative activities; participate in all board meeting and changes to all corporate governance; ensure compliance with all regulatory compliance requirements and manage the day-to-day activities as required for the smooth operation of SGIL.

GLOBAL RISK MANAGEMENT: Interact with DRA on global risk financing activities including placement of global liability, property and executive risk programs. Coordinate on acquisitions involving NA and international locations. Support and enforce group policies. Present and participate in Comite Assurance and Comite Prevention meetings. Work with Sector insurance correspondents in Paris on liability claims that involve suits in North America.

ACQUISITION AND DIVESTITURE DUE DILIGENCE: Evaluate potential acquisitions by identifying and analyzing the risks, review of risk financing techniques and an assessment of the adequacy of financial resources to finance risk. Advise NA and global management about issues that could impact pricing or decision to acquire. Integrate new companies into risk management programs and introduce them to SGC/Group risk management policies and procedures. Ongoing management of historical insurance programs of acquired companies including management of claims activities. Manage divestiture issues related to risk management.

POLICIES AND BEST PRACTICES: Interaction with Law, HSE, HR, Internal Audit, IT and Procure Departments on corporate policy issues and best practices, including contractual terms and conditions.

10+ years of professional experience with a strong background in finance including 5 years of direct experience in risk management
Ability to understand manufacturing operations is required.
Strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills are necessary.
CPA, MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
