The Digital Payment Acceptance and Product Management team is responsible for defining and actively managing the Digital payments customer experience across all of Amazon’s digital businesses’ globally, including Kindle, eBooks, ePeriodicals, Instant Video, Digital Music, Appstore, Audible Audiobooks, Digital games & Software, and Cloud Drive. This includes everything from managing: a) the payment methods we accept, customer experience for paying, cost-of-payments; b) underlying digital commerce platform products and c) Business Operations for digital payments and proactively shaping the payment industry to elevate Amazon’s role. This team ensures that Amazon can delight its customers through delivering a consistent, low friction purchase and payment experiences across all surfaces (whether “owned” or not by Amazon), while retaining our industry-leading low fraud rates, effectively removing payments related bottlenecks to digital business growth.
The Head of Digital Payment Acceptance and Product Management will be responsible for defining the business strategy, managing product development teams, negotiating strategic contracts, managing vendor operations, monitoring and reacting to regulatory changes, and leading the expansion of payments capabilities into new countries to achieve Digital businesses’ strategic and financial goals. You will lead six primary areas: (1) the acceptance business is responsible for managing the cost of acceptance, adding new payment methods, and negotiating deals to support amazon’s businesses in the markets that we currently operate; (2) product management and the customer experience for Amazon’s Digital Commerce platform – meaning you will drive how Amazon’s customers around the world interact during the payment process and experience when buying any digital products; (3) the international expansion team is responsible for running ahead of digital businesses’ new country expansion plan to set the strategy for what payment methods to accept and to hire and manage local teams when needed, to launch local payment methods; (4) the technical program management team is responsible for driving end-to-end technical requirements and deploying payment projects ; (5) partner with consumer and retail payment acceptance teams inside Amazon to define detailed model for managing common payment vendors, resource requirements for digital only countries and payment vendor ownership criteria and (6) the Payment Operations team is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the payments supply chain vendors working with other Amazon Payment Acceptance and Platform teams, to proactively improve customer experience across all digital payment methods, and assisting with resolving escalated customer contacts.
You will recruit and manage a global product management and business operations team for digital businesses and partner with non-digital payments teams to effectively leverage their existing partnerships and relationships. You will work with key stakeholders internal and external to Amazon including: Engineering, Amazon country managers, retail leaders, finance, legal, accounting, information security and senior payments executives. You will work with your team to evaluate our global acceptance strategy, launch new products, manage operations and negotiate with external partners.
This is a very visible role on the senior leadership team within payments across Amazon. You will be accountable for driving and articulating the strategy as well as contributing to the broader strategy within the global payments groups. You will need strong passion, creativity, operational and analytic skills to operate in our fast-paced, and customer focused environment.
While engineering teams do not report directly to you, you are expected to exercise significant influence over the engineering roadmap.
12+ years of overall experience including 3-5 years in online Payment and services industry with significant P&L responsibilities.
At least 5 years creating and marketing products online. Experience negotiating large contracts with banks and payments processors.
Must have experience navigating through regulations and legal requirements to get products launched.
Must have experience hiring and leading a high performance global team. Experienced manager of managers, with a team of 20 or more.
Must have a strong analytical background with a solid understanding of statistical techniques.
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work successfully with teams across the organization, including Legal, information security, Finance, Product Management, and Senior Leadership.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to think big and launch “industry leading” ideas. Experience combining products or business assets in non-traditional ways to create new opportunities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a strong bias for action.

Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have both, a general management background in both large and small company environments. Other preferred qualifications include:
Strong experience in structuring and motivating teams in remote locations.
Experience working on big/complicated deals.
Experience with payments regulations (local and global issues and implications for merchants).
Experience managing a software development team or experience working very closely with software engineers
Experience managing an operations team and dealing with customer service.
Maintains awareness of technological changes, emerging regulations, new product and service offerings and enhancements, requirements in the payment acceptance industries.
Keeps current with association and legislative requirements.
