Director - Procurement - Transportation -The Coca-Cola Company - Atlanta


Job Description:

This is a key role for the effective management of a large national supplier base in the Procurement group with specific focus in the Logistics Procurement space. This role is the leader of the team that sources and procures 3rd party transportation. This role is accountable for spend of approximately $1-2B for both inbound and outbound transportation. His/her team develops and executes RFPs, selects vendors, and negotiates contractual agreements. The Procurement Director insures adequate supplier capacity, capacity management processes and routines are in place to support the business and meet established objectives.
In addition, the team provides analysis and reporting on the contracted vendors. The Procurement Director will interface with all functions in CCR, especially Procurement, Supply Planning, Operations and Finance. This role will be a key member of the Supply Chain Services leadership team and be responsible for strategic initiatives where Logistics Procurement representation is required.


Primary Responsibilities

Close working relationship with the Procurement Operations team to insure objectives & metrics are being met.

Complete understanding of inbound transportation complexities. Ability to coach and develop best practices with Direct Procurement Buyers.

Deep understanding of outbound transportation requirements and service levels needed for success.

Subject-matter expertise in all modes of transportation, including truckload, less-than-truckload, dedicated, intermodal, private fleet, etc.

Develop, enhance and drive strong relationships within the Logistics industry.

Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements

Education: Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. Master's degree (MBA or Supply-chain related) is preferred

Experience: Minimum required: 8-10 years in Transportation, Supply Chain and Procurement related fields

Skills:

Required skills

• Solid understanding of the Transportation industry, benchmarks, indexes and best practices

• Excellent supplier relationship management skills

• Knowledge of contractual structures and agreements

• Detailed understanding of transportation budgets and financial metrics

• Sound understanding of supply chain management processes

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills



Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of regulatory and legal requirements for Transportation

• Strategic thought leadership for procurement
