Director - Technical Accounting - Nike - Portland
Job description

As the Director of NIKE’s Technical Accounting and Policy, you will lead a team dedicated to advising the Company on complex accounting and policy matters. Key accountabilities include:
• Leading our Technical Accounting & Policy team at NIKE World Headquarters;
• Being the lead consultation resource for technical accounting issues and complex business transactions throughout the Company
• Researching, resolving and documenting technical accounting issues; also responsible for maintaining a repository for all technical accounting matters;
• Partnering with the External Reporting team to ensure appropriate external disclosure considerations;
• Authoring comment letters for proposed changes in accounting guidance that may impact the Company;
• Ownership of NIKE’s accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with emerging US GAAP and ensure policies remain relevant with evolving business activities
• Partnering with the Treasury Accounting Center of Excellence to develop and ensure consistent application of Treasury-related accounting policies across NIKE’s operating entities;
• Developing and delivering training and education materials to various stakeholders throughout the business
• Preparing materials for NIKE’s disclosure and audit committees
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance;
• CPA required;
• 10+ years' experience in public accounting; additional experience working in a large multinational, publicly-held company is highly preferred;
• Experience working in a Big 4 accounting firm’s Regional or National office is strongly desired;
• 7+ years' proven people management experience;
• Exposure to ERP accounting and finance systems such as SAP or Oracle preferred;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, risks and opportunities with senior leadership team;
• Proven ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience, including meeting facilitation and presentations;
• Proven ability to develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions and layers, preferably inclusive of navigating a large corporation;
• Proven experience with continuous improvement and/or LEAN-related concepts and change management;
• Excellent understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as innovation, inspiration, employee development, coaching and engagement; and
• Ability to pass a 7 year background check
