Director - General Accounting and Consolidations - Nike - Portland
Job description
The Director, General Accounting and Consolidations; will establish and lead a team responsible for:
Developing our Global general accounting and consolidations operating model and related policies and procedures
Leading our general accounting team and consolidations team at world headquarters
Developing and globally coordinating our monthly, quarterly and annual financial close schedules and continuously driving improvements in the efficiency of our global financial close cycle
Partnering with finance and operations counterparts to drive effective operational reporting around general ledger account groups, management hierarchy's, legal entities and transaction types
Developing and executing a global model to leverage our BPM partner for our high volume, non-judgmental record-to-report transactions
Responsible for determining our general ledger account structure and associated global policies around reconciliations, journal entries, intercompany transactions and consistent account usage
Steward the organization, structure and maintenance of our finance master data to drive effective consolidated reporting
Partner with our global reporting and planning teams to drive alignment and reconciliation between performance management and external reporting
Partner with External Reporting to drive automation of disclosure related reporting, including the statement of cash flows
Drive selection and implementation of new global consolidations tool and close suite
Establish and Perform high level analytics to enable explanations of financial results vs. budgets and forecasts
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA required
8 years' extensive experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, and transaction services/financial business process consulting; experience within a large multinational, publically-held company highly preferred
5+ years' proven people management experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP, business processes and strategic planning is preferred
Exposure to accounting and finance systems preferred (SAP or Oracle)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, risks and opportunities with senior leadership team
Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience, including meeting facilitation and presentations
Strong ability to develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions and layers, preferably inclusive of navigating a large corporation
Proven experience with continuous improvement and/or LEAN-related concepts and change management
Excellent understanding and application of managerial concepts and techniques in areas such as innovation, inspiration, employee development, coaching and engagement
Experience with accounting for e-commerce or other front end customer-facing interaction technology a plus
Ability to pass a 7 year background check
