Director - Strategy and Innovation - Boys & Girls Clubs of America - Atlanta


Job description
This position is currently funded by Disney through 2018; continuation of the position is based on continued funding.
Travel estimated at 30% (can be up to 6-8 days or more in a month, including weekends, depending upon scheduling requirements).
Under the limited supervision of the National Director of Strategy and Innovation, the Director is responsible for the development of strategies, tactics and plans to effectively deliver BGCA’s overall youth development portfolio. The Director is a process leader who guides positive youth development and educational achievement of elementary, middle and high school youth with a specific focus on creating new strategies, finding new resources, ensuring program quality and impact, managing the process of program activation, troubleshooting and maintaining thought leadership.

Job Functions:
Primary Duties
Build BGCA”s 21st Century Leadership Development Framework for youth.
Strengthen the BGCA Youth of the Year national recognition program.
Narrow the current BGCA program portfolio mix.
Generate new BGCA youth development strategy in the areas of academic achievement, 21st century leadership development, character development, health and wellness, digital youth engagement and teen youth development.
Provide collaborative leadership in the implementation of large-scale, Movement-wide projects.
Partner with Resource Development and Government Relations to meet BGCA’s current and future revenue needs.
Manage the BGCA Program Innovation Pipeline, with a specific focus on achieving evidence based program certifications in collaboration with leaders in the Office of Planning and Measurement.
Provide cross-functional leadership in supporting all BGCA departments in their youth development areas.
Translating research and theory into thought leadership products and experiences on behalf the Senior Vice President and in partnership with Marketing and Communications.
Serve as a BGCA ambassador for Club leaders, strategic partners, youth development professionals and others.
Programming & Leadership Development Framework
Create new youth development opportunities, vision and strategy to continue pipeline growth, while owning a key set of projects that must be delivered on time and at a high level of execution.
Develop and implement activation strategies that maximize program adoption, usage and ROI, and minimize unintended consequences and negative outcomes. Work to drive faster adoption of changes that positively impact Clubs and youth
Leadership
Direct a team of external consultants, who will write curriculum, training and other products to support BGCA. Validate scope and estimate, and price client consulting engagements, including the approach and structure of the work, deliverables, work estimates, staff requirements, project work plans and timelines.
In addition to supporting key transformation efforts across BGCA, this role will support the development of a strategy and change management center of excellence within PTYDS by institutionalizing a best-in-class strategy development and change activation methodology and toolset, and by building internal capability and competence in this area.
Business
Analyze stakeholders and prepare transition plans; develop impact assessment, commitment strategies and execute specific change management activities against major project deliverables in collaboration with expanded learning time leaders working in the areas of Academic Achievement, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles.
Work with Field Services, Marketing and Communication, and Planning and Measurement to embed change management process into overall PTYSD methodology and go-to-field approach to create a high caliber program implementation model for the field.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, with a strong preference towards those candidates with an advanced degree in business administration, organizational behavior and management, leadership theory, curriculum and instruction, social psychology, public policy, management information systems, educational leadership or public administration.
5+ years’ experience in the management consulting industry, leading strategy development, change management, capacity building and/or innovation projects.
Persuasive communicator – both verbal and written.
High-level expertise in positive youth development and educational achievement.
Ability to quickly master BGCA’s literature across the three priority areas (Academic Achievement, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles), and specific topics of thematic concentration. These topics include and are not limited to: 21st century leadership skill development, digital literacy, early literacy and numeracy development (K-4 grades), on-time high school graduation, nutrition and childhood obesity prevention, STEM, the power of sport, creativity and innovation, summer learning loss prevention, culturally relevant pedagogy, Common Core, federal evidence based certification processes and more.
Demonstrated track record of identifying and developing new business opportunities.
Demonstrated experience developing creative solutions to multidimensional organizational problems and challenges.
Demonstrated expertise, including application of technology to strategic initiatives.
Proven business case development skills, including experience with both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Skilled in the full client delivery lifecycle, including stakeholder management, change impact, change measurement, business planning, data analysis, process analysis and design, business and functional requirements analysis and program roadmap creation.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, using a structured project methodology.
Proven track record of delivering large scale transformation client programs and projects, highlighted by strong management skills - including strategic planning and estimating, deliverable creation scope management, risk and issue management, and resource and budget management.
