Director - Corporate Benefits - Hitachi - Yonkers


Job description
Hitachi America is searching for a Director, Corporate Benefits to manage all Corporate Benefit Programs including Health and Welfare Plans, 401(k) Plan, and Deferred Compensation Program/SERP, including plan design and marketing in accordance with HAL policies and applicable ERISA rules and regulations for HAL and more than thirty five Hitachi Group Companies. Strategically manage these Programs in order to meet companies’ cost and quality objectives and to attract and retain employees. Present to, interact and communicate with Group Companies in order to maintain existing relationships and to encourage new participation. Manage vendor relationships, compliance/audit processes and Benefits staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manage Health and Welfare Plan for all participating companies in the Hitachi Healthcare Plan.
o In conjunction with HAL’s vendor, design quality and cost effective benefit plans and analyze trends in order to create programs that align with the companies’ requirements and direction as well as employees’ needs.

o Coordinate the plans’ auditing and compliance programs.
· Manage 401(k) Plan on a daily basis.
o Coordinate plan education, communication, investments and plan design across 15 companies.
o Work with ERISA counsel to understand and incorporate new legislation as needed.
· Manage Deferred Compensation/SERP Programs
o Act as the key contact person across the participating companies.
o Ensure that the plan is in compliance with all regulations.
· Manage all vendors, including vendor selection, contract negotiation and vendor management.
· Work with and present to non-participating Hitachi Group Companies to outline the benefits of joining Hitachi’s Benefits Programs, which could lead to lower costs and the ability to offer enhanced programs to all employees.
· Lead the Benefits group in the planning, design and evaluation of work and the hiring and training of staff as required.
· Work with the Benefits Committee and outside auditors to maintain compliance with all regulations pertaining to Health and Welfare, 401(k), Deferred Compensation.
· Support various projects as a lead or team member as required.

Desired Skills and Experience
· Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field.
· Ten years of experience in managing 401(k) plans, Health and Welfare Plans, Deferred Compensation/SERP and related vendor relationships, auditing and compliance.
· Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS and DOL regulations.
· Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook)
· Strong analytical capabilities
· Excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication and management skills/abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple programs is critical.
· Strong knowledge of rules, regulations and laws pertaining to the design, implementation and operation of benefit plans and programs.
· Ability to work effectively with various cultures is essential.
· Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
