Job description
Chewy.com is hiring a Director of Procurement to be the start of our procurement team. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities and negotiating new agreements, as well as, creating and implementing processes, procedures and policies regarding procurement. You are the team to start and you must be able to roll up your sleeves and deliver results. You must be able to deal with a high degree of ambiguity and scale with the company. Job Requirements:
Select vendors and lead major negotiations to procure all items other than Inventory (e.g. MRO, Shipping Supplies, Corrugate, Technology, Office Supplies, Equipment)
Create sourcing procedures.
Review specifications, analyze market and select potential suppliers, lead the RFQ process, analyze prices/quality expectations/delivery dates/terms, negotiate prices and terms, and award and communicate orders to suppliers

Negotiates terms and conditions with suppliers for contracts and agreements.
Work in conjunction with cross-functional teams to select suppliers for new products, lease vs. buy decisions and optimize supplier base
Evaluate/manage vendors/suppliers through KPI’s
Contract administration, quality assurance, modification of special terms, and contract closeout or termination
Establish and enforce procedures to ensure proper recording and tracking of all items purchased by the organization
Develop cost saving structure for global organization
Build a strong cohesive purchasing team that works in harmony across the organization
Domestic travel as needed

Desired Skills and Experience
Preferred Skills:
BA/BS plus a minimum of 10 years of management and strategic purchasing experience
Advanced degree is preferred
APICS /CPP, CPIM. CSCP or ISP Certification
Proven track record of implementing and improving contract policies and procedures
Ability and experience managing contracts across departments
Exceptional organizational and project management skills
Ability to comfortably work in an intensely deadline-oriented environment
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
Strong working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications
Intermediate to Advanced level Excel proficiency
Demonstrated experience obtaining the highest value during negotiations for corporate purchases is desired. You must have Hard-core negotiating skills!
Strong Analytical skills and detail orientation
Software License negotiation experience
Purchasing and contract renewal negotiations
Lean / Continuous Improvement and Change Management experience
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
