Director - Global Sox - Nike - Portland
Job description
As our SOX Director, you will oversee and help lead the SOX Compliance team and partner closely with Controlling, Corporate Audit and Information Technology organizations. The successful candidate will provide overall oversight of an optimized Global Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program that focuses on areas of significant financial reporting risk and fraud, including on-going risk assessment, key control design and operation effectiveness, as well as remediation efforts and conclusions. You will provide leadership, collaborate, influence, champion and embrace change as we elevate the Global Compliance team and assist and coordinate with Controlling functions. You will establish strategies to support Nike’s global direction, define goals, provide structure, create alignment, anticipate and manage challenges – elevating strategic concerns to senior management in a timely and accurate manner and providing insightful recommendations. Your approach will balance Geographic relevance with Global consistency and coherence with a focus on standardization and global alignment. You will drive adherence to corporate governance with clear accountabilities and deliverables. You will stay abreast of external best practices, including the use of technologies, related to financial accounting and compliance matters and incorporate into our program and policies where appropriate.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree, with a concentration in Finance or Accounting
• CPA, MBA and/or other equivalent certification required
• 10+ years’ experience in Compliance, Finance, Accounting, Audit or related field; preferably with a Big 4 Accounting firm experience.
• Expert level knowledge in implementing and applying Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Strong business partnership and navigation skills of a large organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to clearly communicate with both business and technical audiences
• Strong ability to develop high profile, influential and collaborative relationships in a matrix environment
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to motivate and mentor others within work group
• Ability to work with local and remote teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting)
• Demonstrated change leadership and ability to be a transformative thinker
• Strong knowledge and experience with SAP environment, including integration and implementation experience (preferred in most cases)
