Director - Commercial Development - Sempra LNG - Houston


Job description
To develop, negotiate, and close contracts and joint ventures required to construct and obtain financing for LNG facilities. Facilities will typically represent investments ranging from $400 million to $1.2 billion in value. Position will require domestic and international travel. Target customers will include major oil and gas companies, Country Energy Ministries, Gas Marketers, LSE’s, IPP’s and Large Industrial Users. This position may be based in either San Diego, CA or Houston, TX.
Coordinate with SE LNG Strategy and Planning Groups and SET to identify and prioritize key target customers for long-term Capacity Sales, LNG Supply and Gas Sales Contracts.
Develop, Negotiate and Close Capacity Contracts and provide support to/coordinate with SET in the negotiations and closure of LNG supply and N.G. Sales Contracts required for the financing and construction of LNG terminals.
Coordinate and provide the directional leadership to Technical, Operations, Legal and Financial disciplines during contract negotiations through to closing of major contracts.

Prepare and present presentations and reports to senior management as required.
Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risk and maximize risk adjusted ROR’s on projects.
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with key customers.
With support from SE LNG Strategy Group, stay abreast of Competitor’s LNG Terminal Development, activities/status and LNG Supplier Liquefaction Facility Status and Expansion Plans.

Desired Skills and Experience
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field and ten years’ energy related experience including commercial development experience, advanced Business Degree desired and/or a combination of education and experience.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Candidate must have strong communication, commercial, financial, technical and interpersonal skills and have a proven track record of closing complex commercial transactions.
Individual must be a self-starter and able to motivate and manage a team of experienced professionals.
