Job description
Unum’s National Client Group delivers group benefits and absence management solutions to large employers. We currently provide coverage to almost 40% of Fortune 500 companies. We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team of over 200 experienced professionals dedicated to serving and growing this unique market. As a Director of Underwriting, your job responsibilities will be to:


Manage a team of underwriting professionals.
Produce high quality underwriting results through others by the setting of clear expectations, motivation, & development of the team.
Analyze risk and formulate well balanced decisions on the pricing of prospective offers, inforce business, and formulation of block strategy.
Drive results on both growth and profit objectives for assigned sales offices and book of business.
Forge strong professional relationships with key partners both internal and external.
Operate as collaborative member of the management team positively contributing to or driving project work and other initiatives designed to improve outcomes and efficiency.

Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelors degree required
Risk management experience
Excellent critical thinking, reasoning, and problem solving skills
Ability to think strategically and respond tactically in a dynamic environment
