Job description
Direct planning and management of administrative services for the Department of Planning and Construction. Assist the Assistant Vice President with development of organizational changes, policies, procedures, and guidelines in support of programs and services. Develop and oversee implementation of capital construction policies, procedures and project templates. Direct development and implementation of a comprehensive project management system for the department and individual project managers. Determine and enforce standard procedures for evaluation of proposals, bids, and contractor performance. Consult with senior University officials and outside consultants on interpretation and compliance with government regulations, policies and procedures.
Desired Skills and Experience
10+ years' progressively responsible project management experience within a large organization including at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
In-depth knowledge of a broad range of planning and construction principles and practices. Proven ability to plan and implement long-term strategies for managing complex projects and resources. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively communicate with diverse population.
Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population ranging from University Leadership to various client representatives; including department heads, deans, scientists, researchers, engineers and financial representatives.
Possess a solid understanding of complex science and engineering project requirements, as well as a comprehensive understanding of local and federal regulations.
Exceptional negotiation skills with contractors, consultants and vendors.
NYS Professional Engineering License or a licensed and reistered in NYS Architect. Knowledge of construction and engineering design.
Formulate, analyze and effectively communicate detailed project budgets and schedules.
Ten or more years of experience managing complex science and engineering construction projects.
Ten or more years of managing research laboratory renovations.
Ten or more years managing and directing a team of project managers responsible for the renovations of science and engineering facilities at a large institution.
Advance of knowledge of budget/financial management and schedule management for complex projects.
Ten or more years of demonstrated leadership within a large institution of higher learning.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering
Advanced Engineering or Architecture Degree
