Summary of this Role:
The Director provides expertise by assisting in the formulation, development and implementation of revenue generating strategies for NEC Americas Social Infrastructure Solutions. Responsible for overseeing the development and execution of short term and long-range strategic plans and objectives for this business unit working in conjunction with our Headquarters in Japan capitalizing on our parent company technology assets.
Duties and Responsibilities for this Role:
Drive proactive campaigns to build the pipeline, uses specialized knowledge and skills to prospect, qualify and negotiate state and local (municipality) contracts.Working alongside our Japan management team to commercialize the approach for opportunities to increase revenue in the U.S. market.Build entire systems and solutions for new markets such as water management, traffic passenger detection, disaster prevention, security, electronic administration, finance, etc.
Develop and implement a comprehensive vertical/market place strategy. This role will be responsible for delivering the strategy for the products working closely with the sales and marketing solutions teams.
Continual review and evaluation of changes happening in various other identified end-user market segments that demand solutions.
Deep understanding of the various contract buying vehicles.
Educate (sales/marketing/technical/etc) plus the solution providers on the new opportunities in the marketplace and the programs that have been designed to exploit the opportunities.
Positions NEC as a thought leader on end-user market industry trends to the solutions providers and vendor partners.
Requirements for this Role:
Bachelor’s Degree required (preferably in engineering or computer science), MBA or Masters Degree desirable.
Experience for this Role:
Minimum 10 years business development/marketing/sales experience that includes selling products, services and solutions to Government Agencies.
Solid understanding and experience with Government procurement, contracting procedures and funding mechanisms.
Strong and active network of key relationships within Social Infrastructure a plus.
Track record demonstrating success in Social Infrastructure markets.
Ability to work in a heavy transformational business going through a lot of change. Start up mentality.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; demonstrated ability to effectively communicate enterprise level business value propositions.
Excellent interpersonal skills. Functions as a peer with other senior executives, board members, customers and external parties. Comfortable as a spokesperson in a visible industry leadership role.
Collaborative team player with the flexibility to work in a creative entrepreneurial environment; demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed environment with strong internal and external networking skills.
Strong analytical and research skills.
